"demonizing Islam seems to be one of the rites of passage for xjws during the early part of their exit. I also remember trawling the internet when I first started question to worldviews and came accross much fundementalist propaganda against Islam and for a time believed some of it and was shocked and disgusted. It was tempting to see Islam as the new satan and put such things far away from me.

Also when we compare christianity and how it was 250 (& plus) years ago with how Islam is today we are forgetting one huge thing. Christianity gave way to secularization and nationalism (plus fundamental religion of course). Under nationalism violence is given a civilized cloak but it is the the same violence as that practiced by whichever religion you would like to name at any time. Violence predates man. Assuming a righteous stance regarding your own country's violence and condemning another group's violence smacks of major hypocrisy and ignorance.

Does this mean we shouldn't condemn violent acts and atrocities? Of course we should but we also need to be attentive to the violence and atrocities committed by our own countries before we point the finger. a line in one of the articles posted: "But what was being said has deep implications for the future of this country."...islam spreading as a religious/governmental/cultural FORCE...is not benign...the whole FORCE of it has "deep implications"...regardless of how "peaceful" it is said to be.

Not all 1.2 billion Muslims preach hate, Sooner7, and you know that as well as I do. Inciting hatred against 1.2 billion people, the vast majority of whom are peaceful and just getting on with their lives, says more about you than about them.
