Deputy Dog:
So then He has mercy on whom He desires
The rest, he predestines to burn in Hell for all eternity.
No, He lets them go their own way until He's ready to intervene.
Only a hard-hearted person could conceive of predestination.

I'm going to pretend to be a Fundamentalist and respond: "Only a hard-hearted person could reject what God's Word says."
Deputy -- How did I do?
Sylvia -- There are quite a few Fundamentalists among us who do proclaim certainty. It's as 'concrete' as concrete can be, for them.
Then, I'm afraid they're in for a rude and shocking revelation.

I would counter with, "What God's Word says or what I want it to say?"

Their feelings are mutual.

They are most certain of their faith; which is most admirable (IMHO) as much as one is so certain of their atheist stance. I wish I could definitely subscribe to one or the other, or/and have more answers.
This I presume is in spite of, or not needing to know, the answer to what I originally asked. Either that, or from what I have read so far, it's 'God's choice' or 'that's just the way it is', seems to satisfying them. It honestly doesn't satisfy me though. I'm hoping for a better response, or something I just haven't already read, seen, heard, or thought of which has not satisfied me from either Atheists or Christians regarding my questions.
It always reminds me of the theme song from Shaft by Isaac Hayes- 'He's a mean m%%^&&(()^%$ker, but I'm talking about Shaft, and we can Dig It'

I don't posess certainty. I simply find the notion that an invisible dude with a plan for my future to be ridiculous, in view of all of the evidence that I currently have. I'm Apatheistic, too. (Yeah, I did a little reading/research/reflection to reach this point, but I don't have the answers for an infinite number of questions, nor do they interest me, nor do I expect to have the answers before I die.)

Understood and respected. Thank you. I'm hoping for more answers, but as mentioned I've made peace with not having them.
From the Christian: The way Christianity was introduced to these countries may have something to with it. Christianity usually hitched a ride with the military and with those that were there it exploid the natives. They didn't come looking for Christ in the native populations but they came to force their Western views of Christianity on the natives. In the what is now California in some cases they forced the natives into a form of slavery and used them to build mission system. In Hawaii they didn't like the native running around the beach barely clothed so they put an to surfing. Nowadays a lot of people throughout the world get their impression of Christianity from the insane rants performed by greedy televangelist.
