I can still hear my mother say, "Whatever you gonna do, even if it's making a bed or sweeping a floor, do the best job that can be done."
Damned fine advice.

From some of the comments, it sounds like affirmative action is no longer practiced (or has waned) in the US.
I did a paper on Affirmative Action years ago. One source, the Brookings Institute, commented that AA has accomplished its intended goal and should now be changed to a class-based program instead of a race-based program.
It chastised Americans for focusing on race while the middle class is disappearing and the wealthy garner even more control of politicians. The demise of the middle-class they predicted has continued, and will certainly continue, especially now that the Supreme Court has ruled that corporations have the same political standing as individuals and may contribute without limit to political campaigns.

I'll bet Thomas Sowell was the main author.
Smart and savvy man.

Sowell just put out a 5 part video called "American Collapse."
I haven't watched it yet, but I hear it is very good.

Affirmative Action is wrong for 2 major reasons:
1. It solidifies racist thinking rather than breaking it down.
2. It takes away from those that never harmed and gives to those that were never harmed.
