I wonder how the Watchtower would handle it if they were asked by Jesus to do what he asked the man at Mark 10:21. What do you think they would do? Would they react like the man did in verse 22? I wonder if Jesus would respond to them like he did in verse 23?
i don't know why Alice thinks herself as a spokes person
for the WTS, when she represents herself as everything
they supposedly detest
If the GB say they are not spending money irresponsibly, then that's all the proof Alice needs.
Everyone else is a liar.
The GB are a frugal group. They get gifts, free stays at bros beachfront houses, meals from rich bros and the like.
Assembly halls, kingdom halls are all paid for by funds from local bros and a loan for HQ if needed. Congs and circuits that had extra money are now required to give it to the Society or have other needy congs use it. They use the scripture about an equalizing. If excess funds come into a CA or SAD they vote (the local elders) to send the $ to the WWWork.
Accounting is so clamped down on now, with accountability for all KH remodels, builds, AS Hall builds and remodels. A letter about a year ago said even if you had the money for a remodel you couldn't without Regional approval and strict (over the top) guidelines. The reason is that there has been over the top KHs and Assembly Halls built and corruption with $ on some builds (I have seen and been involved in a few).
People, get your facts straight. The beancounters are working OT at HQ. Much like the lawyers and legal staff. After all, they feel a dread of accountability when it comes to handling the $ and don't want Big Bros Govt wrath and more scandal than there already is.
"Alice....wow....you still lurk here? Are you really ignorant of the lavish lifestyle that the leaders at brooklyn lead? I lived there. I saw their benefits. The lowly bethelites may only get $100 per month (at least that's what I got when I was there) but the leaders have corporate credit cards and charge everything to the society. When a GB member comes and gives talks they don't only stay with other witnesses. They stay at 5 star resorts and charge everything back to the WT. They have the NEWEST cars, they travel the world, they have the power over millions of people. So don't give me this 'they live a simple life' stuff."
If you have some evidence to present towards this end, fine. There was evidence that the execs at AIG didn't simplify their personal indulgences anymore than two weeks after the government bailout.

Do you have any evidence to back your claim? Any photos of Don Adam's personal Maserati or just those of a public assembly hall? I visited Bethel several times and I have family I communicate with at Bethel that see the governing body on a regular basis. If their observation is completely different than yours it leaves something to be desired. No, they're not in control of six-million people. If a person rejects Jehovah they can withdraw God from picture and substitute other things in place of loyalty. I can see through that.
How would I have direct evidence of the GBs spending habits? Everything that I've said has been from personal experience and observation. I can't provide a credit card statement, but I do personally know of each of the GB being in possession of no limit credit cards. Many of them are notorious and well known by bethelites of staying in upwards of $500+ a night hotels while out of the country.
All of this is pointless. My complaint is not that they have the money. It is that they don't use it to help the poor and needy. I don't want to hear your examples of their relief efforts in helping JWs. They largely ignore the greater population. I was at bethel during 9/11 and they bragged for MONTHS about giving water to those that came into the lobby from outside. They will BOAST about anything they can. But when it comes down to it they ignore the needy while having the means to help them.
And then they condemn "Christendom's" missionaries for helping the poor and sick in other countries. They ignore the fact that these same missionaries are being persecuted to no end. (See persecution.com for some shocking evidence of this). The WT organization is one of the most self righteous organizations that I've EVER seen. They will NOT admit a mistake. They will NOT help those in need. And they WILL have to answer for their actions before God.
to be clear, we just built one in MD as well. The money is ALL LOCAL. in fact, it was 99% paid for during construction. and all the contributions go to the branch from the first day. Assemblies are big money makers.
"All of this is pointless. My complaint is not that they have the money. It is that they don't use it to help the poor and needy."
They do help the poor and the needy if there's evidence a person is on the road to personal responsibility. I've seen this many times. They don't have the kind of money to fund poorly developed areas like the government tried to force private banks to do through the community reinvestment act. All the money that was channeled into underdeveloped committees got wasted. That's what happens when you give free money to deadbeats.
For you yourselves know the way you ought to imitate us, because we did not behave disorderly among you nor did we eat food from anyone free. To the contrary, by labor and toil night and day we were working so as not to impose an expensive burden upon any one of you. Not that we do not have authority, but in order that we might offer ourselves as an example to you to imitate us. In fact, also, when we were with you, we used to give you this order: “If anyone does not want to work, neither let him eat. 2 Thessalonians 3:7-10
making lavish assembly halls makes bragging temples.......... --> thus creating more contributions
