Malice in LaLa Land said on page one :
"the money that goes in to the Organization is to further kingdom interests, it is not for Charity, if you wish to donate to charitable orgs......"
(or something close to the above.)
I agree with what she/he said there, any money they get goes to furthering the WT's interests (what "Kingdom interests" really means).
Therefore in the U.K (and any country where they claim charitable status) they are perpetrating a financial FRAUD ! , they claim to be a charity, they pay no Tax, and they claim back many thousands of Tax Pounds that the working Bros. have paid on their contributions.
What percentage of their income could they honestly show goes to true charity cases that have no connection to their Borg??
I doubt it is 0.0000001%
Oh yes they claim to teach people to read on occasion, they claim their "Bible work" benefits the community etc. but these things do NOT come out of funds sent to the WT, they are paid for by the local Cong.
Thanks for the thread BroDan it has concentrated my thoughts on the matter.
I shall be writing to the Charities Commission here in the U.K about this issue.
I liked the part where they collect Food for the hungry and Clothing for the poor..........oh wait that wasn't on this slide presentation
Alice, The Governing Body "Bernie Madoff" group aren't just uncharitable and unwilling to 'take care of their own', these parasites don't even have a decent level of business inspiration.
They could create a trade school college of sorts - to educate young Witnesses in practical careers. They could get all sorts of tax breaks and 'alumni money'. But no, that can't be done because they must fanatically stick to their 130 year program of Fraud Maintainence and claim that Armageddon is any day now - while young Witnesses attend worldly institutions, anyway.
It's called "business senescence" , Alice. It happened to Ovaltine and Burma Shave and Polaroid. You have a product and brand name that is fading away into history, so the business leaders put forth a minimal effort while they shut down the business, stage by stage.
Stage by stage? How about Branch by branch?
Oh, and the baptism figures you cite aren't much better than the totals they generated in the mid-'70's - forty years ago! And they had PAID subscriptions back then ...... and two printed Awakes a month .... and factories in Brooklyn running full tilt, with night shifts.
They are quietly dying - but the congregations are too deeply deceived to know that yet. If they are willing to believe in 'Armageddon Soon' after 130 years of fraud, such a level of dumb is hardly surprizing.

all, organizations need money, and the leaders at the top make big $$$$$$$$$$. Even the salvation army and red cross top honchos do.
the diffrence is:
1) they (worldly organizations and religions) still get $$$ to the needy. WT does not.
2) fraud by deception: WT tells followers to drop everything for armagheddon is tomorrow, while their leaders are traveling first class and living in ivory towers pent house suites.
Alice, whatever or whoever he/she is, is THE prime example of a modern day witness.
For arguments sake, let's say Alice is really a witness and believes what she says.
Alice is the ideal candidate to be a witness:
She is:
1. Profoundly, persistently and terminally ignorant, the product of decades of poor research and blind acceptance of whatever comes out of New York.
When confronted with FACTS regarding charity and giving to the poor she quotes the WT policy, not intellectually capable of telling the difference betwen stated policy and actual practice. She only knows what the WT tells her, and she takes it at face value. For her, the WT is an unimpeachable source; she knows this, because they have told her so.
2. Parasitic: as a witness, she likely accepted vaccinations (made from blood) as a child, but still thinks she 'abstains' from blood, and will not donate blood to replenish the amounts used for 'blood fractions' that she likely feels it is OK to take.
She enjoys the highest amount of religious and personal freedom in the world, but likely refused to enlist in the military or vote, and will defend the WT stance on both of those issues. She will agree with the WT when it bashes the US along with other governments as being 'tools of Satan.'
3. Breathtakingly arrogant and self-righteous; Alice thinks that of 6 billion people worldwide and hundreds of thousands of religions, she belongs to the ONLY good one, the ONLY true one; she thinks that she and her 'fellow worshipers of Jehovah' will be the nucleus of the 'new system'.
4. No other way to say it: pathetic. She defends the prophet who is not a prophet, the spirit directed who is not spirit inspired; she hangs on every word of non-scholars who have been wrong about EVERY SINGLE thing they have ever talked about. Not one thing they have said would happen has happened. She celebrates disposable doctrine as evidence that God is leading her group; she thinks that first century christians really referred to God as Jehovah, had judicial committee meetings and had large congregations, just like today.
So Alice; my advice to you is like that ancient prophet:
WHY are you here? Why are you limping along with the great unwashed horde of unbelievers, sinners, apostates? The religion you love so much hates us here, and hates this site. Are you grieving 'jehovah's holy spirit by being here?
Do the pioneer shuffle back to the kingdom hall, where your 'faithfulness' will be appreciated.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't the reason churches are not taxed is because they are deemed charitable organizations. Maybe it would be a good thing if churches who don't consider themselves charitable (like the Watchtower) would be subject to taxation.
I'm so glad that so many of you have seen the truth about this matter. Most billion dollar companies support charities. Now this is usually not out of the kindness of their hearts, but due to the big tax breaks they will get. But the WT does not contribute to ANY charity. Alice like to quote from their own boastful statements about their relief efforts.
I'd like Alice to read a scripture. I'm sure she won't because she has not commented on any of the scriptures that I have asked her to read thus far. It's funny. The JW will always pick up a WT publication over the bible any day. Anyway, Alice, read Matthew 6:3,4. It says, "But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
ANYTIME the WT does ANYTHING to help other JWs financially they boast about it in their yearbooks or on their websites. Is this in keeping with what Jesus said? No. So not only do they not give out of the kindness of their hearts to those that could never repay them, but when the DO give, they make sure EVERYONE knows about it. They are a sad group of men. They are selfish, haughty, and demon inspired (IMO).
Alice, the example of the cyclone is really quite pitiful.
They only did what most other people would have done.
There are many examples of "worldly" people doing good.
There are many examples of "worldly" people doing bad things.
There are many examples of JW's doing good.
There are many examples of JW's doing bad things.
The fact is: As individuals, they are no better and no worse than the average "wordly" person.
As a group, they do far less in the way of community and charity work.
Everyone has asked you for examples of community or charity work that JW's do as a group, and you keep responding with individual examples. Which doesn't prove anything about them as a group.
“Alice, The Governing Body "Bernie Madoff" group aren't just uncharitable and unwilling to 'take care of their own', these parasites don't even have a decent level of business inspiration.”
That's because it's not a business.
“They could create a trade school college of sorts - to educate young Witnesses in practical careers. They could get all sorts of tax breaks and 'alumni money'. But no, that can't be done because they must fanatically stick to their 130 year program of Fraud Maintainence and claim that Armageddon is any day now - while young Witnesses attend worldly institutions, anyway.”
The headquarters at Brooklyn, New York and the branch offices are not institutes for higher learning, although they do train people for various functions.
“It's called "business senescence" , Alice. It happened to Ovaltine and Burma Shave and Polaroid. You have a product and brand name that is fading away into history, so the business leaders put forth a minimal effort while they shut down the business, stage by stage.

If you want some assistance from a religious organization to prepare for the corporate world, pawn yourself off as a Jew.
