The thing about writing a letter of dissassociation, is that if you want the general members of the cong to know YOU made the choice to leave, the elders will not broadcast that. They will just say from the platform "Joe Smith is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses." So its the same as being DF or DA in everyone elses eyes. Personally I would rather people know that I pulled the plug and not them doing it.

I could care less how they all think of me. Sometimes they tell my little girls who have to go with my ex to the meetings "oh tell your mom we said hi and we miss her, and to come back to the meetings." But I think that is just ridiculous to say that stuff to a 4 and 6 year old, they should keep their mouths shut. I digress.

The point I am making is that you have to decide how much the "label" will impact your life. I quit meetings cold turkey and I am treated like I am DF'd. But I don't really care. I would rather my kids not grow up with the stigma of a DF'd mother, but as they get older they will learn that it is just the label the JW's put on people as they see fit. Good luck!

Is it possible that by turning in a time card each week, that congregants could be considered voluntary employees, or something of that nature?

What comes to mind is an article--- I think it was sammielee24--- posted a few months ago. It seems that many of the companies we all have worked for actually took out life insurance on us without our knowledge. Many of these companies have retained insurance policies on us even though we may have left those companies years ago. The scam broke just a few months ago because of a fat check that was mailed to the wrong party.

I will see if I can find the article and link to it.

It was just a curious thought since I would imagine that anyone having your power of attorney would be able to do all sorts of things "on your behalf" that you wouldn't need to know about.

I suppose it would hurt to find out that you thought someone really cared about your well being and your health, to the point of sneaking up on you and tracking you down, inquiring of your associates, and shepherding you to make sure you are not smoking, drinking, and living the wild life....only to find out they were monitoring their stock. Good habits, low rates, bigger pay-offs. Hmmm.

They are called "Dead Peasant" Policies. They are secret life insurance policies on you without your knowledge.

Could this be the real purpose of your "time cards"?

Mamalove is missing the point that I made above, it should in theory be possible to sever all ties with the Legal Corporations of the WT whilst leaving in tact your relationship with the Congregation, albeit that the relationship be as an inactive suspected, but not proven, Apostate for example (Me).

You do NOT write to the local Cong, but to the H.Q, and you would say in the notice that this notice has no bearing on your spiritual/religious beliefs or standing so MUST not be used in making judgements on these issues.

If any statement is made to the effect that you are no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses you will sue. This notice is merely the severance of any legal connection to any Corporation or Agency of the WT.
