    JWoods...great points.

I was not implying a direct link between JW's and violent behavior, but you make a very strong point in the culpability of the Borg in doing nothing to help people like this. In reading about Mr. Lee's history, he has had a track record of bizarre behavior...did non of this show during his time as a JW?

I think we became so used to "unusual" behavior in the congregation, that it becomes difficult to discern when someone has gone over the edge!!

It seems that given the years mentioned, that he would have been a teen or perhaps a bit younger, when he was a JW. The words he used 'estranged, loner' etc., and the pessimism of anything better, his disillusion - all speak to a disfellowshipped JW suffering some serious mental issues with no support. sammieswife

The sad thing is that the JW world actually offers absolutely no support at all for mental issues. The blanket JW answer is that "you are demonized", so you need to "pray to Jehovah" and read the watchtower more, come to meetings more regularly, go out more hours in service, etc. etc. etc. If that doesn't work, (and it really never does), and the disturbed person becomes too much trouble, they will usually find a reason to disfellowship the person and leave them even more alone and helpless.

I am really surprised that there are not more depressed JWs shooting up post offices or McDonalds restaurants.

His issues were with the "ruining of the earth" as the WT puts it. He felt that mankind was producing "parasitic infants", a reference to the way humans were ruining the earth as well. His madness took the JW rhetoric and made it his own. A bomb attack on the Discovery Channel was the only logical thing to do. Poor sick fellow. Thank goodness no one else was harmed physically.

The ones that are not "disturbed" are the ones that totally accept the religion. They have no "crisis of conscience". They are able to perform all of the crazy things that the religion expects. I find this disturbing.

They (the dubs) want everyone to believe that the "demons" or "mental illness" caused this person's behavior, and not, normal disillusion with the cult. "Religion is a snare and a racket." (Where's that guy with the Alfafa avatar that loved this quote? I forgot his name. He drives a Mini Cooper.)

Do you think the JW's are as bad as the Scientologists when it comes to psychiatry?

If he had problems the JW response would be to "pray harder" and "leave it in jehovah's hands, he'll take care of it."

Guess he took care of it for good it would seem.

    This quote:

"But his younger brother, Aaron Lee, did write a brief letter to Moskowitz.

He said James Lee was loved by his family, was nonviolent and did not smoke, drink or do drugs. Aaron Lee said his brother had been “a devoted Jehovah Witness for a decade.”"

makes it sound like he was currently a jw and had been for a decade...

Is there more information about his jw affiliation than this?
