"Yes Alice, the principle of that Mosaic Law is don't purposefully mislead people. The JW Organization has done it time and time again. It's one thing to say something that's wrong, it's another to tell people that the end is coming and then list dates. God disapproved of what Hananiah did, why would he not disapprove of the JW organization doing the same exact thing?
If you ordered a pepperoni pizza and they gave you a guarantee it would be here within a half hour or the pizza is free, what would you think of the pizza company if they showed up in two hours with an anchovie pizza and still made you pay for it? I doubt you'd be ordering from them anytime soon."
During the Mosaic era God's initial instructions were the Ten Commandments. Concerning the first set of tablets, it is stated that they not only were made by Jehovah but were also “written on by God’s finger,” evidently denoting God’s spirit.
Now as soon as he had finished speaking with him on Mount Si′nai he proceeded to give Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone written on by God’s finger. Exodus 31:18
This should provide some insight as to how Jehovah communicated with nation of Israel. Now that the Bible cannon is sealed, direct communication isn't a means of communication used in modern society.
“Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to you in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. By their fruits you will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. Really, then, by their fruits you will recognize those [men]. Matthew 7:15-20
As long as Jehovah's Witnesses consistently teach the whole truth and display the fruits of the spirit, they're not in the spotlight of Jesus' descriptive words in Matthew 7:15-20 and they can make a statement about the future without unjust criticism deterring people from the truth. The family members I know that served at Bethel said the Governing Body were men of tremendous character. Whatever the case, I resister with what a person teaches from the Bible, not insignificant idiosyncrasies people exploit that have been thoroughly settled.
