I hate to say it, but, we've become a bunch of pu*%ie's and we deserve what we've got coming from Islam if we're that weak...

As much as I despise Islam, I don't think that anything will be accomplished by burning a Koran, other than to inflame the fanatical Muslims to do something in retaliation, like start bombing a few churches. Is it really worth it? Not that I can see. Burning a book that you disagree with (and believe me--I disagree with Islam), is childish and ridiculous.
Remember that scene in Footloose where that one fanatical Christian named Roger and his braindead wife organized a book-burning party on books that they didn't personally like? That's what this scenario is going to look like. I hope the Pastor that plans on burning the Koran has got his family hidden away somewhere safe, because he's deliberately inflaming an already tense situation and who knows what will happen.
Cock My Socks UK:
Is there not a law against this in the U.S? Here it is "inciting religious hatred".
Good question. Here is one answer:
But legal experts say it's likely protected speech under the First Amendmentunless it is used to directly intimidate someone or incite violence.
One applicable Supreme Court ruling came in 1989, when the justices struck down laws in Texas and 47 other states that prohibited desecration of the U.S. flag.
In another case in 2003, the Supreme Court struck down Virginia's broad ban on cross-burning, ruling that it did not differentiate between expressing an idea and directly threatening someone.
One of those things is not like the other things.
Exactly right. Here's the difference
Reverend Jones is honest and up front about his reasons for burning Korans. He admits that he is doing it to send a message to radical Islam. He understands that it will not promote peace between them and us. And it won't
The promoters of the Muslim center are deceptive and dishonest about their reasons for building the Mosque. They operate under the guise that the center will bring about peace, harmony and bridge-building. It will do the exact oposite
That said, I think the building of the Mosque and the burning of the Koran and both very bad ideas
Well, since my name got mentioned a page or two back while I was gone - let me set the record straight:
1) - as others have pointed out (thanks) I have NEVER advocated registration of Muslims in this country. Nor did I advocate dropping nuclear bombs on Islamic men, women and children, or denial of U.S. religious freedoms to Muslims - as one uber-pro-Islamic poster seems to be suggesting.
2) - I have already posted on this very thread that I think the Florida 50-man church and its preacher are dipping bat-guano crazy. They are as deluded by perhaps getting their 15 minutes on TV as the Octomom was and these stunts have absolutely no place in civilized society. Not only that, but their leader has the worst moustache I have seen since pictures surfaced of Osama Bin Laden.
3) - I have repeatedly pointed out that many of the far left on this board have a real blind spot when it comes to negativity towards Islam as compared to Islamic negative propaganda toward Israel, Christianity, and the democratic west in general. Invariably one poster in particular will bring up "the horrors of the crusades" and "christians commit terror acts too" anytime Islamic terror is denounced.

Muslimism is like a disease that has to be killed before it kills the host.

The Hyporcrisy is Overwhelming
"There is a reason why over fifty million Americans voted for a man who was raised as a Muslim. Now he is President and people are wondering why he supports the building of a mosque near the site of the annihilated World Trade Center and the ground where hundreds of thousands of Americans were killed, maimed and poisoned by the dust of the smashed Twin Towers........." http://www.v-a.com
But the motivation - being so eaten up with impotent rage that it doesn't matter who gets hurt and punishing the innocent for the acts of a few - is the same.
An asine comment

Here is an example of Reverend Jones' RAGE
He understands that it will not promote peace between them and us. And it won't
Are you sure about that? Bending over and taking it doesn't seem to work too good with Islam....it never has.
This didn't happen because of Muslims going door to door.
You seem completely unable to grasp one simple fact Woods. We are supposed to be better than this. The Taliban/Muslim Extremists are.............gasp! Extreme!!!! Well, duh. Are we supposed to be gauging our standards by them? I want to know what it is about America that the righties supposedly love so much when they are always trying to bring us down to the lowest levels.
Yes, sometimes you can win over your opponent by being "better" than them and hoping they will rise to your standards
However, in order for that approach to work, your opponent has to have a certain regard and respect for your life, your culture and your belief system. Radical Islam's hatred for the West in general, and America in particular, is deeply entrenched. I don't believe we will ever reach them through apologies and turning the other cheek. I believe they view America's acquiescence as vulnerability and weakness.
Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire
The video posted above demonstrates this. Here is radical Muslim reaction to just the threat of burning Korans. The match hasn't even been lit - and Reverend Jones has stated he may not even go through with it - yet Islam extremists are calling for the death of Reverend Jones and the death of America by burning our flag and an effigy of Reverend Jones himself
You won't see the same anger, hatred and mob mentality at the Dove World Outreach Church on Saturday
Watch it again. Good luck appealing to this mind-set with apologies and understanding
With the exception of the Far East, that's pretty much a map of the then known world.
