What Do You Think About Tattoos?

Too permanent, rarely an improvement. (Although my elder dad has one from his pre-JW stint in the military, which I think is kind of cool.)

I like the fake ones...no pain...I had one done and went to the hall with it on...and to work where 2 jws worked with me. I loved their faces as everyone jumped to the wrong conclusion.

I only submit to needles for medical reasons.

My father showed me his tattoos he had gotten as a young man in the navy....they had faded and stretched out; he told me and my siblings not to get any because they would look like this when we got to be his age.

On the right person, tattoos can look pretty cool. The problem is that the older you get, the less you're the "right person" anymore. Even quality work is going to fade or bleed.

I know quite a few people who have them. There's a subculture of people that I have some contact with that are big into tattoos. Even though I see the appeal in this particluar group of people and enjoy some aspects of their lifestyle, I personally won't get one because I'm too old to try to look like I belong in that particular scene.

I also like to be able to adapt to different situations. I've never understood trying to identify as a member of a particular group or culture when there's so many cultures and groups to experiment with and enjoy. I can hang out in a biker bar one day and then hang with co-workers at an upscale yuppie martini bar the next and then a honky tonk the next and on and on...and not look like I'm out of place at any of them.

Me and my wife got tattoos on our honeymoon while we were still JWs. The funny thing is that she is sooooooo careful not to let anyone see it. She's afraid of what others think. But she wants another one...go figure.

I like mine because I view it as a permanent wedding ring. It's my symbol of love for her. I can always take off my ring. I can't take off my tattoo.

Hate them when taken to extremes. The odd one can look ok but not when they're out on display all the time.

I'm working on a plan to get a sweet jailhouse tattoo. The real deal, not that poseur stuff. See y'all in 5-to-10.

I have one. It was a youthful folly after I left the JWs and went wild. It's just a bow with a heart in the center with my initial on it "S", but it's on my right hip up high enough that it's not easily visible.

Wish I didn't have it but there it is. My husband likes it, oddly enough.

I hate the trendyness of it all. Every couple years its something else. Women wearing the sweater shawls like Clint Eastwood in Fistful of Dollars, or the Jennifer Aniston haircuts. But this one is different, its a fad that won't simply disappear, because ink is permanent. It seemed like it started with every punk a$$ frat dude with the tribal tattoo on his arms. These same dudes wouldn't bust a grape and would be rape victims in prison. After 50cent blew up and was taking his shirt off every other minute, young folks everywhere seemed to be getting them. I particulary hate seeing young women with prison style ink. It's not attractive to see a woman with R.I.P. Tyrone on the side of her neck. I will say for the authentic alternative female types, some of them it looks good on. Like Kat Von D. She looks pretty scrumptious I have to admit. I could see possibly getting a public reproval over her, maybe even a DFing.

I don't have anything against tats,

I'd rather not have one because i wouldn't want to have a distraction from a pretty dress I'D be wearing
