just curious.
Did Any JW Here Ever Believe They Were Going To Heaven & Not Paradise Earth?

I sort of had that feeling a couple of years before a number of us left during the Ray Franz era.
I had to conduct the memorial (the last one I attended) and I partook of the emblems...I did not follow the society outline - I just read the gospel accounts of it, did the songs, and had the emblems passed.
>> of course, most of the hardline elders thought I was crazy by then anyway so it wasn't that big a deal. I resigned and quit going to any meetings shortly afterward. It took them a couple of years to finally DF me.

>> Add on to say for the record, that after a couple of years being out, and independent study of outside philosophy and science, I just gave up most religious ideas and consider myself an agnostic now...

I'm an "unbeliever" but I won't close any doors.

Minimus - it might be worth mentioning that if anybody is both a "believer" and also has even a halfway decent knowledge of science, an everlasting Paradise Earth is a pretty unsupportable idea - so the Heaven idea is (while not really explainable or provable) probably less in violation of simple proven science than eternal physical watermelon picnics with lions standing about.

I was rank and file 100% Great Crowd. I believed it all; hook, line, and sinker.
Funny story, a couple years ago when passing the bread my son (who was 2 at the time) knocked the plate as it was being passed and the "body of Christ" went flying all over the place. Everyone GASPED! I was on my hands and knees picking it all up and removing hair and other particles from Jesus body. I hope there weren't any partakers behind us... They would've needed the wine to try and wash it down.

LOL.
Now, JWoods, you know perfectly well that you should have written, "everlasting physical watermelon picnics with lions standing about."
LOL again and again!
Now, on to the subject of going to Heaven.
I've never cottoned to the idea of floating around or sitting on a cloud; that's why the idea of a Paradise earth was initially appealing to me. As time went on, however, I developed a strong desire to see the Savior.
I took to reading the Bible without WT's spin, and voila! According to Revelation 21 and 22, the Savior and the Father will be coming here to Earth.
Hallelujah!

I think paradise earth is bogus.

I think paradise earth is bogus.
The JW notion, yes, by all means. But the real earth we have now is pretty much a paradise compared to Mars or Venus, right? Maybe we should just enjoy it more while we are here - (hint to JWs, selling magazines during practically every waking hour is not really that enjoyable)

It's bogus in the sense of JW's being the only survivors of Armageddon and subsequently making the earth blossom like a rose!
What have JW's ever done as a group that would qualify them for this task?
I wonder how I ever swallowed that!
