I have four children, my last has autism. Don't know how it happened but it did. All of my children have had their shots, with the exception of my oldest who didn't get his chicken pox shot and promptly got the chicken pox about a year after my youngest was born.

Would I like to know what caused my child's autism? Sure if it will help him and prevent other children from being afflicted.

Is it a driving need for me to know how this happened to my child? Not really, I'm more concerned with the now and getting Joshua the help he needs.

Before the disgraced doctor Andrew Wakefield said that the MMR vaccine caused autism, he thought that it led to Crohn's disease.

    Wakefield has written a book.

The foreword is by Jenny McCarthy, who offers the tired old “listen to the parents” argument and calls Wakefield “the symbol of someone who stood up for truth.”
Wakefield starts the book with an anecdote about a mother who killed herself and her autistic child: moving, but irrelevant to the questions of whether Wakefield was unethical or whether vaccines cause autism.
Wakefield does not recognize that he has done anything wrong. Instead, he accuses the regulatory authorities of callous disregard of children’s safety; he accuses his accusers of having personal motivations to destroy him and to maintain the vaccine party line at all costs; he accuses Brian Deer, the investigative reporter who exposed him, of getting the facts wrong; he accuses others of not reporting their own conflicts of interest, etc.

my parents had a nice visible circle in their arms from vaccines, i guess they should not have gotten them for that made their arms look bad.

I have children with Autism, they are high functioning, but what I find interesting is the increasing number of children being diagnosed.

Well, also don't forget that the diagnostic criteria have changed, and more and more kids are being recognized as having autism than have in the past. There were many kids in prior decades who didn't fit the criteria of autism as it was in the 1970s but perfectly fit the criteria as it is today. And now there are assessments designed to screen for it already in preschool. This is the current situation in Western nations. In Asia, where having autism is more commonly perceived as a stigma that can bring shame on a family, autism is much less commonly diagnosed. And so the rate of incidence is lower in those countries than it is in the US, because they do not have the social structures in place to recognize autism as readily as it is in the US and Europe. It should not be forgotten that incidence is not the same thing as prevelance.

When you anti-vaccine people can produce solid, peer-reviewed, scientific evidence that shows vaccines cause autism....

Then you will have my ear, then you will convince me.

Right now, all of the evidence goes the other way.

Until you do produce the scientific evidence, you go into the looney bin, along with the Truthers, Chemtrailers, and Fluoridated Water-ers.

I can't give too many details for it will make my family outed, but:

my child has had many problems, and the school was claiming bloody autism..... well after the 3rd doctor they found out it was a tiny muscle problem that can easily be fixed.

many of the autism activists are home school activists............... gotta look at their credentials

Mercury is highly toxic. The EPA said Mercury isn't safe in seafood. If it isn't safe in seafood how does it become safe in thimeresol in vaccines? I am not a chemist, just asking?

    The dosage matters.

Yeah amazing what a surprise parents drink smoke take recreational drugs or abuse prescription drugs and then have an autistic child and it's all because of those god damn vaccines...

I know two autistic children both of the mothers had used recreational drugs during the last 3 years. One smoked marijuana the other had an Oxy addiction several years before...
