Some women cut their hair short -- just enough to cover the scalp. I have seen this and it looks good.

Years ago as a JW I went from long hair to a Mia Farrow cut. It was short and shocking. I have cut it that short since then many times but a shave is something else again

Maybe it might be a good idea to shave it off next year when the weather is warm like in the spring or in the summer, so you will have more time to get more sun and make it look better. If you wait too long this year, I would not recommend it since the the fall and winter seasons are coming around the corner sometime soon.
