I'm asking because I just watched "The Road". It may not be the saddest but it's up there. "My Sister's Keeper" was a real tearjerker too.

Yes, it was depressing. Even the beautiful nudity could not overcome the ugliness of their souls.

Atonement gives a nice ending that offers closure to the story........ AND THEN RIPS IT AWAY!
I don't get to weepy but I spent days feeling ......disturbed to the point of non-resolve tears.
