    Anyone familiar with the Society's tortuous reasoning on the whole 607B.C.E - 586/7B.C.E debate knows how, and why, they consistently render Jeremiah 29:10 as;

    "For this is what Jehovah has said, In accord with the fulfilling of seventy years at Babylon I shall turn my attention to YOU people,. . .

    However, in the infamous book 'From Paradise Lost to Paradise Regained' on page 114 we find the following;

    "Thus saith Jehovah of hosts.................After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you..."

    Remember, the New world Translation was in existence by then but this was their chosen wording. Perhaps it may be useful when trying to reason with JW family who will only look at official WT publications.

    Yes, they also have Dan4:17 "lowliest one of mankind" (JW lingo referring to Jesus) while all other bibles and original text has lowliest of men(plural)

    So- what's the signifigance, in your mind, Nick: I don't see it.

    Jo-jo, mankind and men are synonyms. Get a life.

    INSIGHT ON THE SCRIPTURES VOL. 2 PAGE 332 paragraph 1 " THE GOD OF LOVING KINDNESS WOULD NOT LEAVE HIS PEOPLE IN EXILE FOREVER. HE FORTOLD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO SERVE THE KING OF BABYLON 70 YEARS. SECOND PARAGRAPH, THEY MAKE THE GOD THEY CLAIM TO WORSHIP A LIER. IT SAYS "EVEN BEFORE THE END OF THE 70 YEARS BABYLON FELL."

    I'm slow; I still don't see it.

    1-They stopped obeying the Mosaic Law- especially the Sabbaths; he FORCED the Sabbath of 70 years.

    2-"For" and "At" Babylon apply- just in different perspectives. 70 years for Babylon to remain, 70 years of Jweish captivity.

    Seventy years of servitude and tribute to Babylon, vs. seventy years of exile in Babylon.

    Some were left, some were in Captivity- there was servitude AND captivity.

    Right, Mad. The seventy years of servitude began before Jerusalem was destroyed. Cf. Jeremiah 27:11-13, 17.

    This is important because it disproves the Watch Tower Society's calculations to determine the end of the"Gentile Times".

    And because they are wrong about that, they are also wrong about their alleged "appointment" in 1919...

    (Incidentally, nic, the Scandinavian versions of the NWT have "for Babylon" -- not "at Babylon".)
