I think it's fascinating that God beams his new light only to the "representatives" of the slave class who live in Brooklyn. Wouldn't that make the other 10,000-odd anointed feel kind of ... left out?

So how did hubby enjoy the box on page 10, "How the spirit revealed the meaning of the spiritual temple"?

The WT overseer at our congregation is "academically challenged" at the best of time, I think he may set this as "homework" again.

I'd like to know that too. I read the box, re-read it and read it again. I didn't get it - why was this issue important? Maybe I'm dense. Or could it be that this ever so minor, esoteric, inconsequential point was purposefully designed to get the r&f scratching their heads thinking, "It's way too deep for me - I'm real glad we have the spirit guiding the FDS/GB to these deeeep Bible truths" (which was exactly the agenda of the article)?

Excellent Point, AnnOMaly. The GB has always slammed the Catholics because the priests say the bible is too deep for the R&F but they are guilty of the exact same thing.

I searched the CD-ROM for information on this to no great avail.

In view of the comment "Toward the year 1971, however, reponsible members of the slave class began to discern......". I expected to find a WT about 1972, explaining the old and new light. The only thing I found of 'significance' was a book published in that year 'Paradise Restored' but a glance through that was no real help. The WT of July 1, 1996 dealt with the Spiritual Temple but didn't seem to explain the 'true tent'.

As you and other posters have intimated, this is just hocus-pocus to try and give the GB some sort of credibility or superiority over the R&F.

As expected, our WT overseer took a single answer on this box, two sentences read from the page, and then moved on. I asked my mother how it was dealt with at their congregation but they had to miss that section as they were running behind time!!

I can't wait for the TMS talk in a couple of weeks "Are JW's a sect or a cult, and how old is their religion?" rs p202-203

The article succeeded. My Witness husband is deeply confused. He asks for my help because it is too deep for him. I laugh, because the article is knee-deep in manure. I gave him a tip. If something is too confusing to be understand, it's because it doesn't make sense. Blame the professor.

    Awesome observation.

St. George - There was a WT article in 1972 about the 'spiritual temple' (or was it the 'true tent'?). Only had time to quickly flit through it - it still looked like a big fuss over very little. When I have time, in the mood, and have my CD-ROM available, I'll check it more closely.

    TD - ditto.

I cannot even be bothered wading through that crap.

When people cite what the Gibbering Buddy has said, I just laugh. I do NOT CARE anymore about their drivel.

Iwill not waste any more of my one and only life trying to get to grips with their crap.

This is a goood sign, methinks.

I like the "responsible members of the slave class" bit, the subtle suggestion that only the GB member of the slave class show enough responsibility to handle the info, thus slightly elevating themselves.

    Toward the year 1971

    What does that even mean?

"Toward the year"? So was it 1970 then? Why not just say "In 1970"?

Was it 1971? Then why the "toward"?

Anti-cult warning flag no. 678: If the top guys can't even write a simple sentence giving a time-frame within their own lifetime, you might not want to depend on them to expound on prophecies involving "weeks of years" or "trumpet blasts".

I thought the whole point of this "study" was to let us know that the Faithful Slave/Governing Body was fine with the incorrect teachings and revelations of the past, and that we should be ok with it too!

I think they should just come up with a chant or something that the "friends" can all repeat, over and over again, after having to read this drivel. They need to work on that.
