Tammy, are you limiting phenomenology to a western concept and belief system when virtually every culture and background records the same events.

I would have to know exactly what events you're talking about to try and answer you, Designs. Nor can I truly speak about gifts that I have not received - which is not to say that I don't believe in them. I do. Healing, prophecy - tongues wouldn't really mean anything to me if I heard them, from any culture. But love is also a gift of the spirit, as are patience, kindness, humility, forgiveness - and these are the gifts that I understand.

As for different cultures receiving these things (is that what you were asking?) I don't know the answer to that. I know that people from every nation and tribe will be among the 'great crowd' - and its not for me to say who those people are or how they got there. Perhaps they follow Christ (through the love and mercy and forgiveness that He taught), but don't know to call on His actual name - just what that name stood for? In any case, I don't believe the world is limited by my small view of it.

Let's see now.....holy spirit is a person without a name but God and Jesus are also persons, but, have names.

Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity, yet, the unforgiveable sin is not against the Trinity, but, against the Holy Spirit.

Jesus prayed to his father, but, never to the Holy Spirit.

The apostles and disciples had the Father and the Son, Jesus, but---not until Pentecost did they have Holy Spirit.

    Is that about right?

You know, my mother once said to me that she thought Jesus was the holy spirit, and that's why the Holy Spirit never came to us until after Jesus died. At the time, I knew soooooo much more than she did (), and I corrected her. I believe I did her (and me) a disservice.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and of Jesus, though some see Jesus as being THE HS, while other see Jesus as being the vehicle through which the HS is active in Us and the world.

According to the bible, the HS is what gives those that receive it certain gifts, accroding to God's will it seems.

Some have the gift of tongues, which means that speak languages they never poske before.

Others the gift of healing, teaching, prophecy, etc, etc.

The WAY the HS acts within us is a gift of God through Jesus and became possible because of Jesus' sacrifice, it became accessible to all through Jesus after his assencion.

There is a perfect union between God, Jesus and the HS, you really can't get one without the other.
