My friend was getting the mags directly from some JWs, not from the rag counter at hall. Wonder where they are turning in the money? do they deceptively "collect" on the pretense of magazines and then give the money to "WWW" as a cover?

Not sure when but i know twas a while back, probably before my time!

Makes me laugh though, i remember the Literature Slave would hastily remind us kids that Gold lined Bibles were expensive. Needless to say, after 4 years hard use before Stepdad stole it, all the gold lining was intact and there wasn't a mark on it. Someone made a smart ass comment and said i obviously don't read it enough

    THE COMPLETE DONATION ARRANGEMENT

2 At the end of February 1990, it was explained that magazines and literature will be provided to publishers and to the interested public on a complete donation basis, that is, without asking or suggesting that a specific contribution be made as a precondition to receiving an item. When literature is offered, voluntary donations will be accepted to support the worldwide work of publishing the good news. We have faith that Jehovah will bless this arrangement.—Compare Matthew 6:33.
