Since reaching middle aged adulthood, you ever have moments of uncertainty that frightened you?

MLE -- This will pass. Been there, done that. If your weather is pleasant, a 20-minute walk outside might really help.

I kinda went through a similar thing in my thirties...I'm barely into my forties and I don't have those feelings of anxiety over getting older anymore. I'm much more confident in myself now and, like Blondie, am enjoying life as it passes. In my thirties I became conscious of how quickly time passes but now I realize that yes, it does pass and the years behind me and the experiences I've had make me see that there are many more experiences that are to come and I look forward to them.

Realizing that the promised new system and never growing old was a pipe dream was jarring to me, but it does pass and when it does you'll see that getting older can be something to embrace rather than abhor. You become less worried about what other people think and that, to me anyway, has been the most liberating feeling.

I agree with a couple of the posters that this could be mild panic attacks. A lot of people have them and don't realize it because they are the really severe ones. The way you describe them, it sounds like my mild ones. I have had a couple of real lulu's in the past, but mostly I have tiny ones, sometimes a couple of times a week. Try not to worry, it's terribly common.

I hope your day goes better. I have no words of wisdom but to keep an eye on your symptoms and see a doctor if this repeats.

I just got back from lunch. I took the advice and took a walk. I also went ahead and got a Flu/H1N1 shot. I haven't had a flu shot since middle school. I'll probably get shot or hit by a bus making the flu shot invalid. At any rate it did feel good taking a walk through downtown, but I always take a walk during my lunch break. And again thats what frightens me. There is nothing different about day from any other day in my life that I can recall. I have to admit its really strange. My confidence is just a lil tarnished. I've always prided myself on being willing to go toe to toe with a grizzly if I had to. After today though, I don't know anymore. I feel like a coward, but I don't know what I'm cowering from. Friggin weird man. I've taken Xanax in the past for exciting times, but this was different, very different. I'm nervous from nothing. SMH Thats what made me think its age related. I don't like this getting older thing.

Poopsie , I find it hard to look forward to more experiences at least not today anyway. Tommorrow I'll probably be staight, I hope anyway . Right now, the future looks empty and white, sorta like a blank post before you type anything and hit submit. I just see nothing right now. Absolutely nothing. I hate to come off melodramatic or anything, I'm not an overly emotional guy, but this feeling was something new today.

Journey, I'm wondering if its leaning more on boredom than anything. I loved this job when I started last year, but I have sorta reached a dull moment doing it. I'm about ready to sink my teeth in something else.

Grandma thanks for sharing your experiences, I hope I dont have any Lu-Lu's as you put them LOL. Lu-Lu's sounds like something from a WB cartoon.

Curious, thanks for the thought. I'll keep an eye on it.

edit this post, I don't know why medical tape is so sticky. My shoulder is a little hairy, it hurts taking the tape off after a shot.

I've been thinking about this and I wonder if subconsciously you know you need to move on from the WT. Yeah I know you have to stay (for your own reasons) but deep down are you coming to terms with the fact that, for you, the WT is over and you know you can't do it any more. If you are starting to think it's time to move on is it this that is sending you all panicky.

Sometimes our subconscious tells us stuff we're not ready to hear.

No way am I saying this is what the reason is, it's just a thought. Hope you're feeling better today.

Sounds like plain ol' boredom to Me....And dare I mention that perhaps You are unhappy? Do You allow Yourself to be unhappy, or pissed, or just in a wierd assed mood without guilt?

The world will keep turning if You are less than pleasant Ya know. Feel free to be bitchy for a minute or two. People will accept that. (accept the bimbo on the cell phone who is trying to steal your parking spot, watch out for her).

    I hear you MLE.

We were not taught how to accept the natural flow of life. Our stages of psychological development were stunted because "this system" wasn't supposed to last much longer. So we gave our youth to Jehovah and once we hit the 30s it was like, "uh, ok, this is gonna keep on rolling, isn't it?"

If you look under my name I started a similar thread a few months ago. There is lots of good advice there. Look at it when you get a chance.

Eat right and get that heart pumping fast every day to help dissipate some of that anxiety. That feeling is awful but it won't kill you. It helps to know that.

I haven't figured out the rest yet. But I love hearing the advice everyone gives on these types of subjects. It has been a tremendous help to me.

And to answer your question (LOL), Yes I do have moments of uncertainty. As JWs we just knew what the future would bring. Part of it was the egotism of youth. But the biggest thing is that we thought we had all of the answers to mankind's problems and we knew God's timetable, yadda yadda yadda.

It's huge to realize that you don't know jack! That's something major to come to grips with.
