Are you in the Big House?
Hi Cameo:
No, not THE Big House. A huge home I sat became the basis for a metaphoric journey.
You can check in but never ...
Thanks for posting.

Your story made me think about the planet we live on its curious beauty although its beauty is like a rose that withers and dies. We are trapped here no explanation just enjoy your prison till you as that rose wither and die.
your not allowed to express your dissatisfaction and demand the reasons for why just eat your ice cream cone and don't think about the lit fuse behind you it might be long or short its a surprise.
Thank you, Nancy Drew, for an apt description of where we are and what we do. We might as well enjoy what's been set before us and be prepared for any surprises. And don't express dissatisfaction! Like the part about the rose.

Edit: You can check in out but never ... [whoops]; "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."
She settled.
Misgivings - to be sure - but Mr. Right never came along.
Another pursued her with real intent and zeal.
She said yes.
With reluctance.
She said I do and settled for Mr. There. Baby came along and made this marriage of convenience tolerable,
Dulling the ache, the pain of not so much a heart broken
As one thickened and rendered insentient.
Baby grew up, became an ungrateful child and cruelly ripped out her aching heart.
This time it broke, broke for good.
What matters, what really matters, is that she married only ...
She married only in the Lord.
I have searched long for that love of all loves,
But it hastens not, though my winter's arrived
And leaves me desolate of every hope of warmth,
Comfort and a prospect of my name's immortality.
Nor will this elusive love reveal itself in my tiny dreams,
Allowing, at the very least, a gossamer of muted visions
That would elevate this worn and bitter man to a level of
Expanded vistas, kindling within flames of love's illusion ...
But when you see through loves illusions there lies a danger
and your perfect lover just looks like a perfect fool
so you go running off in search of a perfect stranger
while the loneliness seems to spring from your life like a fountain from a pool
fountain of sorrow, fountain of life
you've known that hollow sound of your own steps in flight
you've had to hide sometimes but now you're alright
and it's good to see your smiling face tonight.
excerpt from a song sung by Joan Baez on the diamonds and rust album
I really, truly can indentify with "She Settled."
I did the so-called right. noble thing, and ended up with only emptiness.
CoCo, you are a dear.

I have passed from death unto life.
No more will pain afflict, hold me fast
To an existence I endeavored feebly to
Love yet, if with success, unacknowledged.
I emerge from this mortal coil of frail and
Transitory confinement; all obligations of my
Terrestrial phase have been shed and I awake
In that reward of which all deemed me unworthy.
This, my day's long and arduous journey,
Is winding down as infinite night gracefully
Descends and takes me into her welcomed
Embrace.
Such a calm acceptance- ah but the turn is just ahead.
Makes me feel the exhaustion and allure of an eternal sleep.
