    My Exit – Introduction

Over the next few weeks or months, I will post an accounting of my exit process in a series of 15 short stories. It will be part of my permanent notes that may someday be incorporated in a book – likely a private book for my children and grandchildren. Your comments will be highly valued.

The reason for posting this is that on May 1, 2002 it will be my 10th anniversary of walking away from Jehovah’s Witnesses. From the time I read Crisis of Conscience until I walked away was about 3 years, and from the time I walked away until my DA was again another 3 years. The titles I plan to post deal mostly with the last 3 years.

I am at the point in my life where I may be moving on to other things – I really don’t know yet. I thought that with my "10 year Apostate Pin" about to be awarded, an in-depth review of my exit would be good timing. Here are the Part titles as I have them planned. The titles may change, or increase as I go along, so that I can keep each Part as short as possible – ahhhh the freedom to change at will, and without permission:

Part 1: Breaking Ground with Crisis of Conscience
Part 2: Torn between Two Worlds
    Part 3: The October Surprise
Part 4: The Last KM School
Part 5: The Beginning of the End
Part 6: Last Public Talk - The Memorial Saga
Part 7: My Resignation into the Void
Part 8: The Defining Moment - a visit with Ray Franz
    Part 9: Telling the Family
    Part 10: The Amalgamated Wedding
Part 11: The Apostate Trial of My Friend
Part 12: The Last Shepherding Visit
Part 13: The Letter to the Watch Tower Society
Part 14: The Radio Interview in Portland
Part 15: The Watch Tower Writes Back

PS: This is my post number 1300 ... not connected with anything Apostate ... well ... except a multiple of 13.

Eric: I see you are from Canada. I just got through telling a close friend that I never met a Canadian that I didn't like ... I hate to think that such a good thing has to end.

Bloated ego? Okay mister expert ... tell me why you think that to be the case? What do you know about me?

I come on to these boards to share ... to contribute ... to be part of the fellowship of ex-JWs ... and it is a good thing that I have walked the road of life enough to spot people like you ... for such people don't make positive contributions, or even attempt such ... they just like to dig at others ... ask yourself, are you at all concerned about what a JW who is having doubts might think as they lurk? Does your style offer them any reason to leave Jehovah's Witnesses?

Go ahead and say your nasty little digs ... be my guest ... because there is one of us with an ego problem ... and it is not me.

    Hi Amazing,

I look forward to reading personal experiences such as yours and also any of the others that detail the often slow and painful process of adjusting to life after the watchtower. I feel I am adjusting pretty well but still have very few 'worldly' friends and haven't yet had any apostate-meets-witness confrontations.

    Please share.

First off, there is a forum on this board where everybody posts their personal experiences. Not surprisingly its called the personal experiences forum. Can you think of any reason why you would not post this series there?

Amazing. I look forward to reading your experience... having the opportunity to learn the pitfalls and triumphs of another who spent years in the JW is encouraging and a reminder that one is not alone in such circumstance.

Eric, you make a valid point. Such topics are appropriate for the personal experience forum I suppose.

yrs2long, I can relate to your experience. I have been out of the org for a short time now and making worldly friends is still a difficult process. I would enjoy learning more about you as well. I see your email is restricted, I cant say that I blame you, there are some strange individuals who make a nasty habit of mass mailing unwarranted messages. Anyway, if that picture is indeed you, you are very attractive. Although Im sure you get that all the time.

Keep the posts coming ladies and gents, they are being read.

Amazing: I don't post here much. But I do spend a lot of time here reading and learning. I think why some people here like Eric may think that you have a high opinion of yourself is because most of the stuff you post is about yourself, or maybe I should say about your experiences. While most of what many other people post here is about issues and ideas, how they think the Bible should be understood, why they think JWs are not God's organization, things like that.

Now to me this does not necessarily mean you have a big ego. It may just mean, that as a former elder you have more interesting "inside" experiences to tell than most people here. However, judging from some of the comments you have made lately, I think it may also sadly mean that you no longer have any positive issues and ideas to share with us. (I think you have recently said that you have not just lost your faith in the Watchtower organization but that you have lost your faith in the Bible and in God Himself.) If you now believe in nothing greater than yourself that may partly explain why all your posts are about nothing greater than yourself.

Well, there is also a forum to air disagreements. Perhaps u could have started a thread in the Adults and Disagreements forum, yes?

    Hello Amazing,

I too enjoy your posts here. I look forward to your new series.
