While you didn't publish a best-seller (yet) I bet you could lecture about what you know nearly as good as Dawkins.

Is Richard Dawkins becoming the spiritual head of the Athiesm Movement?

Lol, spiritual head of the atheists!

I love Richard Dawkins. Some of his shows on BBC Horizon were great. So interesting from the p.o.v. of a biologist.

If any of you chaps like atheist progs, there's a good one available on the torrent sites called 'a rough history of disbelief', and a spin-off from that called 'the atheism tapes'. Short interviews with Colin Mcginn, Steven Weinberg, Daniel Dennett, Arthur Miller, Denys Turner and the almighty himself, Richard Dawkins. They are all asked about how they became atheists from their earliest memories/feelings etc.

Debator, send me a PM and I'll email the vids to you. They won't get bounced by the Patterson servers though, will they?

OK, I've been wondering something for a while, and maybe one of you can set me straight if in fact I'm mistaken, but...

Is Mr. Dawkins NOT using science and biology as a platform for his theological views (or lack thereof)? If not, why not? And if so, isn't he falling into the same trap the fundamentalists are?

Again, not trying to stir the pot. I have no problem with science or atheism, I just think it's disingenuous to use one to support the other (call it a reverse-God-of-the-gaps if you like). I mean, isn't that the fundamental problem with creationism and/or I.D.?

OTWO: Thanks, if we dont speak up the information will have an atomic reaction in our heads.

Debator: No he is just very easy to understand and willing to talk without fear. therefore many universities want to hear about him.

Agonus: He is a professor of Biology at Oxford, what do you do when you are a professor? You research, you teach you give lectures. So he is just doing that. The thing here is that he is really good at what he does and a very simple man and he is not afraid to speak. If you listen all he ask people is to question. To analize evidence and to come to your conclussions. Many people refuse to do either one. They are happier with that believe already.

I would have brought an Evolution book for him to sign. How awesome would that be to own?

I understand the "rock star for geeks" appeal behind the Dawkins, just not my particular cup of Earl Grey.

I'm a geek, but my "geek rock stars" are still pretty much John and John of TMBG... and they are quite literally geek rock stars.
