Don Cameron's book deals with this. . .

    Captives of a Concept

Raymond Franz made this mistake for almost 60 years. It took Peter Gregerson some 50 years to stop making it. For Ed Dunlap it was closer to 70 years. But they are not the only ones who made this mistake.

Carl Olof Jonsson,James Penton, David Reed, Ron Frye, DuaneMagnani, Leonard Chretien and even Dr. Jerry Bergman made it. Randy Watters, Paul Blizard, Timothy Campbell, Gary Busselman and Diane Wilson made it. Jon Mitchell, Tom Cabeen, Buddy Carlton, Dan Dykstra, Ros Hughes, Debbie Shard, Betty Stone, Joe Whedbee, Jr, Marilyn Zweifel, and R.C.Higuera all made the exact same mistake. Bill and Joan Cetnar also made it. I made it.

Mickey Spillane ('Mike Hammer'), Michael Jackson and his family, Teresa Graves (Laugh In), Venus and Serena Williams, Prince and many other famous people made it. President Dwight David Eisenhower's mother made it. Every former Jehovah's Witness who has ever lived made the identical same mistake.

There are about six million Jehovah's Witnesses today who are still making this mistake. And there are some six million of their "Bible Studies" who are in the process of making it. Everyone who becomes a Jehovah's Witnesses in the future will make this mistake.

Captives of a Concept identifies this mistake and what causes it. And it explains how to avoid making it (which is easy) and how to correct it once it has already been made (which is not so easy).

In order for Jehovah's Witnesses to escape the concept holding them captive they will need to correct this mistake. The book offers some suggestions on how to go about helping them correct it.

Does Don say how to get a JW to ask these questions that he/she didn't ask earlier?

Have you ever asked an elder these questions only to have him tell you, "I'm not here to answer your questions"?

Of course, when JWs are meeting with a study, they ARE supposed to answer questions.

Problem is, studies don't know what questions to ask:

    1. When did Jesus decide the WTS was worthy to be his organization?

    2. On what basis did he make this decision?

    3. Fine, then I really want to see everything they were teaching at that time because if it was that important to Jesus, it's that important to me.

Its only a small group of Bible Students who follow or study the Finished Mystery Book, most of the Bible Student groups avoid the changes made in the FM and stick with other CTR writings.

    Designs,

Have you read The Finished Mystery?

If not, why not, given its importance to the Society's claim to have been appointed the FDS at that time?

My question would have to be, how did they know?

Who told them that Jesus chose them?

    How was that message conveyed?

If I knew when I was a kid that they made this claim, I'd have asked that question.

Ding, yes I have read it, I have two complete sets of the Studies In The Scriptures given me by my grandparents who were original Bible Students from 1900. My grandfather was arrested by the Justice Department for distributing the Finished Mystery, I have his copy with the controversial pages torn out.

What does having read those books tell you about the credibility of the claims of the WTBTS to have been selected by Jesus to be the FDS?

Ding, That they are really two completely different religions. Like I was trying to have Debator look up, the Bible Students were Dispensationalists and the JWs under Rutherford are Limited Atonement-New Covenantalists, that's like the difference between a Pentecostal and a Presbyterian. Completely different.

    I'm confused.

What was the WTBTS teaching in 1919 if not the information contained in the Studies in the Scriptures and The Finished Mystery?

If that was the food they were dispensing, how could Jesus possibly have chosen that organization to be the FDS?

If the current Watchtower Society is a completely different religion, then when did it become a separate religion and on what basis does it claim that Jesus examined all the religions in 1918- 1919 and selected it to be the FDS?
