    Hi all,

Maybe this is a local phenomenon, but does it aver occur to you that JWs whose mate dies often remarry in what society in general regards as an ``unseemly'' short time after the death of their spouses?

I guess the most prominent example of this is Audrey Knorr, who tied the knot a second time not long after ``pappy'' Knorr was interred in 1977.

    Just wondering.

Need the sex? Or finally able to marry that ugly, single, rich elder they've been eyeing for years?

That way the elder can get laid and be happy, and the bitch can get all of the dough. Seen that happen before.

I know what you mean about getting married quickly, though. I don't know, if my wife died I would be a mess for a very long time.

I used to wonder what happened after armageddon
when all the departed wives husbands turned up
after the resurrection, how it was explained to me
was that anyone resurrected came back basically as
a neuter, they would have no feelings for their former
    mate in a marital sense.
my mum married the widower of one of her best friends
practically on the first anniversary of the death of her friend,
I can remember thinking while I was taxiing her to see her dying
friend(us walking deads have our uses)....I wonder how long it would take
aprox 6 month engagement I think.

Well I know when my mom died there was practally a line of sisters around the door within weeks...disgusted me to say the least! Funny thing though, my poor dad didn't have a clue...

    Hi again,

I'm sure the ill-condsiered JW doctrine that resurrected mates will not be reconnected with their pre-Armageddon spouses is a contributing factor, as is the de-humanizing suppression of individuality and sentimentality that permeates JW culture.

    Nelly,

I remember that story too. I thought it odd that he was engaged to re-marry 5 short months after his first wife's brutal murder. It makes you wonder how long it took before he picked himself up, dusted himself off and started checking out the skirts at the Kingdom Hall. Under the best of circumstances, it takes a little longer to find an appropriate mate, especially with an infant in the picture, where you'd want to make very sure their best interests were first and foremost.

Then again, I've long felt that JWs' beliefs keep them from grieving in a normal healthy manner. This is simply another manifestation of that phenomenon.

So true Scully...it's like if you grieve to much well then you must not have much faith in the resurrection. I think it makes them very callous to the grief and suffering of others!

Yes, they can't wait to marry again. Seen it lots of times. My Mum's best pal died a couple of years ago, the widower asked 3 sisters to marry him within a year and was engaged twice. Her other pal was made a widow and was engaged within 4 months to someone else. My Mum has had 4 proposals herself, I think maybe I should vet the next one, can you imagine a DF'd person asking an elder what his intentions are towards his mother? LOL.

Can't be for sex, none of these people were exactly oil paintings, I guess that there is nothing else that a dub is allowed to do, no hobbies or sports or socialising outside the org, so a aprtner becomes essential.
