Why did God kill children?

Yeah, I guess I must subscribe to the "Divine Command Theory".

I don't mean to sound hard hearted in all this. It's sick for me to think of children dying. But if I am to trust what the Bible says, then I MUST have an answer to why God commanded the killing of children.

The best thing Jehovah's Witnesses could do for people is go door-to-door assassinating them so they die "in this system of things" and receive the resurrection before they are judged in the great tribulation.

Darth: You've stated quite simply why Parsimony reveals the non-existence of the Jewish God, IMHO.

I have heard many testimonies of children who have died being in heaven.

If you want to see it in scripture read verse 23.

2 Samuel 12:19-23 (New International Version)

19 David noticed that his servants were whispering among themselves and he realized the child was dead. "Is the child dead?" he asked.
"Yes," they replied, "he is dead."

20 Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate.

21 His servants asked him, "Why are you acting this way? While the child was alive, you fasted and wept, but now that the child is dead, you get up and eat!"

22 He answered, "While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept. I thought, 'Who knows? The LORD may be gracious to me and let the child live.' 23 But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me."

For those who don't know the story, that child was conceived from an adulterous affair.

    Blessings,

    Stephen

But if I am to trust what the Bible says

We can all agree that you decided that evidence did indeed exist exist that convinced you that WT was not legitimate. At one time, you probably felt that this was an impossibility.

Ask yourself: What evidence would it take to convince me that the Bible is not trustworthy?

Why is it necessary to rationalize this, when you very honestly (which I appreciate) state it is your opinion?

I read this after writing the above:

"I don't mean to sound hard hearted in all this. It's sick for me to think of children dying. But if I am to trust what the Bible says, then I MUST have an answer to why God commanded the killing of children."

Is the answer true? Is your trust not dependent on what you yourself acknowledge to be just your opinion? Why not just make that call on the basis of what the bible actually says at any given point, rather than a secondary rationalization like this?

    Earlier, you said:

So why would the Israelites be any different.

Should I expect a new Cadillac to be superior to a new Kia? If not, why call it a Cadillac?

OTWO, I've brought that up to jws especially after they changed the dividing of the sheep and goats to just after the GT starts....

Good point. I guess what it comes down to is that the Bible says that God ordered the killing of some children...so I believe that it was the most right thing for God to do, whether I understand his reasons or not.
