I quit!
I signed up because my sister and a woman I used to work with ask me to. Now I get important information on my sister's friends like what time their children took their naps today. I don't even know these people yet I know when their children were napping. I also found out that one of my sister's friends is looking to meet men.
I'm not sure I get the point of it either. If I figure out what I should be doing with it I'll let you know.

Broken Promises
I like it. I have about 60 friends, made up of ppl I went to school with, relatives, ppl I've met in my life, and other exjws. I limit it to just ppl I know and trust.
It's a way of keeping up with what ppl are doing, photos of ppl's kids, funny videos or pictures get shared, that type of thing.

I just opened up my facebook to the ex jws and got a response, only problem is the first one that responded..I friended her..now I have her 47 friends all in my message box as wanting to be my friend..what tha???
I can't tell which ones are legit and who is just a referral.
They use their real names so I have no idea who they are..I am sure someone will get offended because I didn't add them...
I did learn how to block their wall from my page tho so my family couldn't see their walls.
Now about all those wanna be friends..
And what the heck does it mean to "Poke " someone?
Since my computer messed up and I have to go through firefox I can now see who is in chat and who is on line..I couldn't see it before when I went through explorer or windows or what ever I was using...
Wierd..
Snoozy..
OH yeah..my number 2 daughter has blocked me twice now..

For me, it has some limited use. It helps me keep informed about friends who have moved away, for example.
Besides that, its benefit is very limited. I've deleted so-caled "friends" (or hid them from my News Feed) because they post updates on insignificant things and do nothing but clutter my page with nonsense.
I think Facebook can potentially damage relationships. For example, I've made friend requests that have been ignored by people with whom I work or whom I know personally. While it's not a huge deal, in the back of my mind I do wonder why I was rejected.
Also, I've deleted people, as I mentioned. How do they feel about being deleted? Could they resent me for ultimately rejecting them?
Some people get very offended when relationship status is changed. It's fueled attacks against an ex who try to move on. There's a lot of stalking by exes on Facebook.
It does make one wonder if the negatives don't outweigh the positives.

Send me your email address through meetup.com or PM and I will hook you up to join my facebook friends. We are one of the largest groups of apostates around. We are still pretty boring, but we have our good points.

I'm pretty new to FB myself. After the initial wave of friend requests and setting up my favorite pages, not much really happens. I might post something on my wall once a week or so and I get a couple of comments but it's not like this whole new world opened up.
It's kinda voyeuoristic... you can look around on your friends friends pages and look at photos and comments.
I do like to use it to keep up with local bands and bars....see who's playing where and when. I've found that a lot of the bands/bars/clubs now post daily updates on the goings ons of their particular situation. I've found out about concerts and events I didn't know about through my normal contacts.
I'm not a particularly outgoing person so I find it hard to request 'friends' from people if I don't really have a reason to keep up with them. I find it easier to request friends with musicians and bartenders, the people who keep me in the know on the music and bar scene. But requesting friends from my old roommate from 20 years ago (that I haven't seen in 10 years) or family doesn't interest me.
I have a couple of JWs on my friend list. It's interesting to see them interact with other JWs (some I know, some I don't). I hope to 'friend' some more...people that I actually liked at one time...and see what happens. I'm not going out of my way to be "ex-JW' acting but I don't particularly hide that I'm inactive and am pursuing other interests. I'd like to see the reactions...call it a social interaction study...

I joined Facebook so I could see a pix of Oompa - he's cute, by the way - and it's been a pebble in my shoe, ever since... Chuckleheads I don't even know, asking to "friend" me - I assume so they can brag about how many "friends" they have???

I don't get it either. I've tried to figure out how people spend hours on it to no avail. Blah.
