I recently learned of a situation that truly saddened me. A 16yo JW boy was DF'd, and because of the forced shunning, the family had not seen or heard from him for 40 YEARS. What a sad situation for that guy growing up. In the past, I had met the JW mother a couple times, and I'm not really shocked to learn she has another son she hasn't talked to in 40 yrs.

^That is sad and i agree Farkel. They like to rub it in that they got away with it, but to be honest it only makes them look arrogant and cheap.
Even if there were some family matters requiring contact, this certainly would be kept to a minimum, in line with the divine principle: “Quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person [or guilty of another gross sin], . . . not even eating with such a man.”—1 Corinthians 5:11.

The have to dishonestly insert this paraphrase because this verse does not cover a myriad of disfellowshipping offenses that the WT subjects its members to.
