Apologies for God

I am growing tired of people trying to explain and apologize for GOD. It doesn't need it. It doesn't care. It will do what it will do.

According to Richard Dawkins in The God Delusion,

"Yahweh, the God of the Bible, is "jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully."

    That is Mr. Dawkins' opinion.

Some posters on here share his viewpoint.

    I beg to differ.

Hence, I express my views, not apologies.

God has NOTHING to apologize for. We do...

This Dawkins fellow needs to chill - take less water with it.

Yahweh never did me any harm, never even said good morning or sent a tax demand; just stayed the hell outta my way. Is it cos I'm a gladiator?

I don't remember ever apologizing for God either. Just perhaps for what people claim to do in the name of God.

If I was out shopping for a God, I would certainly not pick one I had to make excuses for all the time.

Looks like Dawkins hit the nail pretty squarely if one bothers to read 'God's own book'. This is not Dawkins opinion, it is your Bible's opinion of this monster known in the west simply as 'God'.

Watson, I was just thinking about this! My mom and I got into a discussion since I no longer believe. I told her that even if there is a god, I don't consider him worthy of my worship since he doesn't do anything to help humans. My mom later called and left me a voice mail saying that it's her fault that god never helped me and my sister when we went through so many trials growing up. She said that she has not done her best to serve jehovah and that is why we never saw any "blessings" or protection. It's sad that she should think that she needs to make excuses for "god."

Your mother is obviously a very humble person. It is sad though, as you say.

GOD is off the hook as far as believers go. Look at all it has given us. We are ungrateful sinners, if we don't see that.

I've got a canine in the back yard. I give him a house, water, dog food. After that, I'm off the hook too! Right?
