Bible refers to women as "the weaker vessel" - you know why?

  Because it's a self fullfilling prophecy!

  If you keep women couped up and force them to have only limited contact with the outside world they are going to appear sheltered and unlearned. Therefore when these oppressed women do things that are unlearned or immature all the men go "well they ARE the weaker vessel."

  It's disgusting actually.

  Women have EQUAL mental capacity to men (despite what Ron Burgundy says).

  I actually find it a tragedy that women don't have the say that men do in so many countries and in so many religions. Women compliment men AND men compliment women.

  That's God trying to tell us to WORK TOGETHER! Utilize ALL strengths.

  That's exactly right Sab! Unfortunately, this kind of BS indoctrination has been going on for thousands of years. This makes it even hard for some women to see that it is BS and thus they swallow the weaker vessel hook, line and sinker.

  What men have done to lower women to second class or worse is DISGUSTING. I just read up on a woman - Hypatia of Alexandria and it was awful what was done to her.

  It takes both sexes working together to create harmony. When you get out of balance the world starts falling apart.

  I don't know why the bible says it but I know 2 interpretations the WTS uses

  1) Lev. 18:19, 20:18---the menstrual renders women incapable of sane thought. "vicissitudes"

  I always liked the explanation given by a onetime C/O that the scripture says to honour women as to a weaker vessel. That is not saying that they really are weaker, necessarily, but men should give the same honour as they would show to a valuable breakable thing....

  I thought that was going to be "new light" and an official change of thought, but no...it went back as before.

  I never quite agree with the term weaker vessel. They've got a power over me that since puberty I've been trying to defeat. You tell me who's weaker. Look at Tiger Woods, or Brett Farve and his texting activities.

  I still do all the chivalry stuff, but lately I'm starting to see it as pointless, and possibly demeaning to both myself and women.
