"Keep your eyes on the prize"

^ This WT slogan is quite telling don't you think?

It illustrates what the Watchtower's members motivation really is.

Yeah, there's a difference between a gift and a prize.

I'm going to do a song, based on that old song. It's parody time, as always.

Keep your eyes on the carrot (even though it spoiled decades ago)

They ARE going to be surprised...by their "prize".

Do you know what I always thought that. I thought people should live a Christian life because they want to not because they are going to get a prize for it!

Surely if you are only acting in a certain way to get a prize it loses all meaning?

It's interesting to hear a Witness defend this statement. They, of course, do not look at it as a focus on the reward, merely a keen awareness.

"We don't serve Jehovah for what we get out of it."

^ This is pretty much their whole argument (but they use a few more words).

That is what I find ironic about the religious zealots that say we get our morality from the bible/god.

Morality is like charity. True charity is done without hope for reward, recognition, or status...and done only for the good of others. I think your actions cease to be moral IF you are doing it for hope of reward and out of fear of punishment. Religions are built on this "anti-moral" creed.
