solely by means of the pages of the Bible... is like trying to know someone based on what's written about them in their high school year book. While what others write there may say a lot... OH SO MUCH is left out. Best way to get to know that person? At least have a couple/few conversations with them, if not meet them personally. Heck, spend a little time with them, which doesn't always take a whole lot.

Same thing applies as to Christ... and through him... God.

Truly. It really is that simple.

May those with ears hear... and get the sense of this truth. And may you all have peace!

    A slave of Christ,

True AGuest , but if during your conversation, you are the only one talking what have you learnt about the other person?

God or Jesus NEVER answer back, so it's a one way conversation....

God or Jesus NEVER answer back.

    Many would disagree with you.

    Many have had prayers answered.

    Many have had prayers answered.

Many have said they have seen little green men from Mars and had cattle abducted by aliens in space ships.

Does this make them right or wrong?

If they're all wrong and yet testify to seeing and experiencing the same things(space men), could the same be said of the other people who "hear god", feel his presence or have their prayers answered?

    If not why not?

There are so many Gods, religions, books and different versions of bibles(and different texts) that I don't know what to believe in anymore than just the words of King Salomon, make the most of every day and enjoy life.

Eh... I was just saying that some would disagree with the comment from 3mozzies.

The discussion of little green men is for another thread I think.

    Good post :)

Please, note the caveat to knowing the Father is one must know the Son.

    John 14:6-10 (New International Version © 2010)

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?

    1 John 5:11-12 (New International Version © 2010)

11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

    Matthew 7:22-23 (New International Version © 2010)

22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

    No problems, my pleasure :)

Here's another thing, to know Jesus is to know the Holy Spirit.

    John 14:15-18 (English Standard Version)

    Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 "If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, [ a ] to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

    Footnotes:
    1. John 14:16 Or Advocate, or Counselor; also 14:26; 15:26; 16:7

Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one, just as Jesus and the Father are one.

    John 14:23 (English Standard Version)

23 Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

    Blessings in Christ,

    Stephen
