My Husband and a JW

My husband has been talking to a jw about business but the jw keeps inserting jw crap (I told my husband this would happen). I'm not worried about my husband listening to this man (my parents' negative example had taken care of that) but it is interesting and a tad disconcerting to watch how this jw man tries to rope my husband in. Below is part of their conversation:

[11/6/10 6:58:26 AM] Hubby: Yes! I will hit you later. How are you feeling?

[11/6/10 6:58:47 AM] Tom: I'm feeling fine overall. How about yourself?

    ...

[11/6/10 7:05:29 AM] Tom : There is an outstanding website that you have to check out that will prove very useful for all sorts of subject matter: www.watchtower.org.

    [11/6/10 7:05:50 AM] Hubby: Okay!

[11/6/10 7:05:51 AM] Tom : Since you have recommended several good sites to me, now it is my turn!

    [11/6/10 7:05:56 AM] Tom : :D

    [11/6/10 7:06:01 AM] Hubby: Hahaha!!!

[11/6/10 7:06:33 AM] Hubby: Here you go: www.baysideonline.com

[11/6/10 7:06:40 AM] Tom : But, seriously, it deals with all sorts of health, emotional, employment, family and other issues.

[11/6/10 7:07:01 AM] Tom : But, from a Biblical perspective, of course.

[11/6/10 7:07:38 AM] Tom : All you have to do is put in the keyword "health".

[11/6/10 7:07:52 AM] Tom : Have you found it yet?

[11/6/10 7:08:02 AM] Hubby: Not yet! (I have to interject here and say hubby wasn't interested and didn't bother to look at the site.)

[11/6/10 7:09:39 AM] Tom : Well, I've pulled up yours already: "The Christian Atheist", now there is a paradox if I've ever seen one!

    [11/6/10 7:10:08 AM] Hubby: Hahaha!

    [11/6/10 7:10:18 AM] Tom : :D

    [11/6/10 7:10:22 AM] Hubby: That's what it's all about!

[11/6/10 7:10:58 AM] Hubby: I download christian music for a trip for Thanksgiving.

[11/6/10 7:11:11 AM] Hubby: It just finished!

[11/6/10 7:11:22 AM] Tom : How do they reconcile the two opposing concepts?

[11/6/10 7:11:34 AM] Hubby: Bebo Norman

[11/6/10 7:11:54 AM] Hubby: Yes. In many way..

[11/6/10 7:12:52 AM] Tom : So, what do you think about watchtower.org so far?

[11/6/10 7:13:31 AM] Tom : Were you able to look up your medical condition there?

[11/6/10 7:14:48 AM] Hubby: You know my wife use to be a JW. She left. Her family still is.. They don't talk to her much.

[11/6/10 7:15:04 AM] Hubby: Have I've told you this before?

[11/6/10 7:15:32 AM] Tom : Yes, but, don't let that stop you from taking advantage of valuable insights. (Insights my tushie. )

[11/6/10 7:16:00 AM] Hubby: Your right! We don't. They do. They don't like me.

[11/6/10 7:16:00 AM] Tom : Not everyone practices what they learn in the Bible in the best possible way.

[11/6/10 7:16:11 AM] Hubby: I'm not WHITE.. Excuse me.

    [11/6/10 7:16:50 AM] Hubby: I'm 1/4 can I say. If my father is 1/2?

[11/6/10 7:17:13 AM] Tom : Something like that...Did you know that the Bible warns that God's judgment will begin with "his own house"?

[11/6/10 7:17:42 AM] Tom : That is why those who claim to worship him will be under much greater scrutiny.

[11/6/10 7:17:53 AM] Tom : This is not to be taken lightly.

    [11/6/10 7:17:55 AM] Hubby: Yes.

[11/6/10 7:18:30 AM] Tom : At least, I remember this before I open my mouth to judge anyone. (Wait a hot second here...didn't he just judge my parents? )

[11/6/10 7:18:35 AM] Hubby: That why I'm trying to get my projects in order to give back.

[11/6/10 7:18:49 AM] Hubby: And also do more..

[11/6/10 7:19:31 AM] Hubby: I have no reason to talk about anyone.. life is too short!

    [11/6/10 7:19:55 AM] Tom : You're absolutely right!

[11/6/10 7:20:16 AM] Tom : That is why I don't want you to allow your in-laws attitude to make you bitter. (Too late for that.)

[11/6/10 7:20:43 AM] Tom : Especially since the Bible has so much to offer without comparison!

[11/6/10 7:21:02 AM] Hubby: Trust me! I don't care. I'm just worried about my children and what they do to them..

[11/6/10 7:22:17 AM] Tom : I agree that a parent's greatest motivation is perhaps the best interests of their children as well as their future.

[11/6/10 7:23:08 AM] Tom : There have been staunch atheists that have come to believe in God after observing the miracle of childbirth!

[11/6/10 7:23:49 AM] Hubby: My children are doing so good. They're all Honor students.

    [11/6/10 7:24:15 AM] Hubby: My 16 years if pulling a 3.75 GPA..

[11/6/10 7:24:32 AM] Hubby: Junior year in school - oops - is pulling

[11/6/10 7:25:05 AM] Tom : That's great! It is important for you both as parents not to allow your own personal grievances and struggles to affect your children adversely.

    [11/6/10 7:25:29 AM] Hubby: We don't.

[11/6/10 7:25:36 AM] Tom : I know you both had very difficult childhoods.

    [11/6/10 7:25:47 AM] Hubby: Yes.

[11/6/10 7:26:11 AM] Tom : Your children can reap the rewards of the positve aspects of your lives. (A positive jw life? Not!)

    [11/6/10 7:26:38 AM] Hubby: True!

[11/6/10 7:26:56 AM] Tom : All of that negativity is counterproductive as you know.

    [11/6/10 7:27:08 AM] Hubby: Yes

[11/6/10 7:27:31 AM] Tom : I'm sure that it has motivated you both to be the very best parents that you can be because you want to "break the cycle" that you experienced.

[11/6/10 7:28:03 AM] Tom : I'm happy to hear that your children are excelling in their studies!

[11/6/10 7:29:18 AM] Tom : That is a wonderful accomplishment for which you must be very proud as parents!

[11/6/10 7:30:02 AM] Hubby: Yes. We are! Thank you!

[11/6/10 7:30:27 AM] Hubby: My music is done. I have to go get some sleep!

[11/6/10 7:30:45 AM] Tom : Okay, my friend! It is always a pleasure!

[11/6/10 7:30:45 AM] Hubby: You don't want me to die on you..

[11/6/10 7:31:03 AM] Tom : Please give my regards to the family and sweet dreams!

    [11/6/10 7:31:11 AM] Tom : (hug)

[11/6/10 7:31:14 AM] Hubby: I will hit you later!

... cuz hubby was being naughty on purpose, he loves trying to take jws to the dark side

[11/6/10 7:31:25 AM] Tom : Okay, now! Take care!

    [11/6/10 7:31:29 AM] Hubby: ok

Now, when I found out this guy was a jw I warned my husband that sooner or later the jw was going to start in on this crap so hubby was ready for it. Hubby finds it amusing. I waiting to see how far this guy will go before he gives up.

There have been staunch atheists that have come to believe in God after observing the miracle of childbirth!

I would ask why these stauch atheists didn't start believing in god after seeing a cat or puppy being born? Don't get me wrong I think birth is a wonderful thing, but it's not a miracle...it is science.

"My husband has been talking to a jw about business but the jw keeps inserting jw crap"

Hey Lady, good to hear from you

that reminds me, there's a national restaurant chain, and most of the managers are JW's most of the

young workers are JW's a friend of mines daughter put in an application several times, not hired

but I still see kids from the hall, being hired. JW's are a risk to any business, because I'm sure some

    laws are being broken.

Loosie are you a man or a woman,

    I remember being "that guy".

I was such a douche-bag (and so is he)!

wasblind... I am a mom myself. But the definition of a miracle is something that has no earthly explanation. Childbirth as well as puppy and kitty birth has and explanation... a scientific one. It isn't something that would get an atheist to change their mind. I was just pointing out an error in that Jw's logic... which there are many.

I'm not saying childbirth or the preceding 9 months is easy... it isn't But I would do it again in a heart beat to have what I have now.

What a great conversation! Hubby is the master at stringing this guy along, it could be a golden opportunity to open Tom's eyes to a few real truths. How about hubby asking a few pointed questions to get the guy doing some real research?

    Could be fun
