I totally "get" the outrage against the book and/or its writer and publisher. I get it. But tell me, why do some here object to the biblical account of God allegedly wiping out the Canaanites when the Canaanites did the same OR WORSE?
Seems like Finally-Free's thinking is along the same lines as God's.

Want to KILL sales of the book??? Just start the rumor that I stated above - that the book is actually a SECRET GOVERNMENT STING OPERATION to draw all pedophiles out of hiding, and the book is a way to get pedophiles' names in a federal sex-offenders' registry....

There are more things wrong with this sentence than there are words in it. (exaggeration intentional and inaccurate)
1: What all of them?
Every Canaanite was a pedophile or worse? Even the children they were raping were themselves child rapists? You're gonna have to prove that one cause I find it highly unlikely. Or are you just generalizing? Just because SOME Canaanite were pedos they ALL deserve to be slaughtered. (Including their victims)
That's called Genocide and is typically frowned upon by several cultures.
2: Killing pedophiles is a bit extreme. Isn't it far better to give them medications to reduce their sex drive? Or help them face whatever mental issues they have?
Sure maybe we don't currently have the technology to safely deal with pedos in a humane fashion. But if that god has the power why would he choose excecution over rehab?
3: If you MUST kill them why do it so violently?
Cutting up pregnent women and smashing their babies against rocks. Stabbing people with swords. Cursing them with plagues.
When moral people put down a violent dog we do it as gently as possible, this god could theoretically poof them out of existance. He excecutes people in an immoral way.

Something I don't understand is the outrage against Amazon for "allowing" it when they've actually taken it down.
So did they actually allow it knowingly until the outrage and PR became too great? Or did the outrage and PR bring it to their attention and they then took it down pretty much right away?
I read about this in the Chronicle yesterday. A blogger (unpaid reporter) had sent a complaint and Amazon defended this till it became a big story. I looked at the book (the listing) it self. If it was written as a legal guide to defending "allegations" I would not oppose even if it was used by pedophiles but it is obviously promoting child-adult "love".
Amazon was stupid for defending it as a biz decision and a moral one.
If I know how to build a bomb it doesn't mean I should find a terrorist an offer instructions and encouragement. I think thats how you end up in Guantanamo.

In that case, whoever made the call to keep the book for sale through the company after having it brought to their attention should be fired or at least demoted because he/she has shown no ability to exercise good judgment in such matters.
As I understand it, Amazon was aware of the offensive materials and said they did not want to act as censors.
