What usually happens is that the witlesses are supposed to "hate the disgusting thing". In this case, the disfellowshipped person becomes "the disgusting thing", and hence they would not want to display photos or other works by this person.

It is absolutely a cult that emphasizes hatred and hateful, hurtful behavior FAR MORE than love. Even the supposed love they show is twisted and sick.

    undercover:

It is an extreme action but I'm sure it happens with some more of the extreme dubs.

Or, if it isn't an "extreme" dub, it's an extreme measure to signal other dubs that they are very carefully toeing the line, so to speak. The ones to whom I'm referring were never among the higher profile dubs - they never go to KHs when they go on vacation, they associate with Worldly™ relatives and Worldly™ intimate partners of their never-baptized-but-raised-JW children, and attend weddings of their children who Marry Out of The Truth™ and weddings in churches of Worldly™ relatives. It's just this one individual, who never actually DAd, but was announced as having DA'd, who is shunned from the family photo gallery.

It may be hurt or anger or sorrow that causes this behavior. I know an exJW who has removed from his home all pictures of his JW daughter who shuns him. People do what they believe will give them some peace.

The prediction for 2011 AD ( focusonthebible2011.com ) is based on the Bible and it uses Jehovahs Witness Organization as an important part of the endtime era . There must be a period of 120 years included in the prediction and it must be related to the true christian religion or religions .

    1884 AD + 120 years = 2004 AD and 7 years extra for 7 days from Noah's time - Genesis 6.3;7.1-4.

The International Bible Student Association began the revival of the true christian religion. Jehovah's Witnesses are their legitimate successors by being linked to the name watchtower.

    2004 AD + 7 years = 2011 AD .

"...One day when I came home from work my ex proudly exhibited to me the photo of me, which she had cut out of the poster and framed. The portion with my old friends couldn't be found, not even in the garbage. Knowing her, I suspect she burned it. In fact, all the photos I had of my pre-JW life were gone. ..."

Gooooooood GRIEF, Finally-Free.... I hope you dumped her behind so fast that her head spun... What presumptuous arrogance, to obliterate your history based on her personal interpretation of "Gawd's" word aka the Watchtower literature...

My hubby has plenty of pix of ex-girlfriends amongst his old 35mm photos. I certainly don't go thru and destroy them!!! Sheeeeesh!!!

"I haven't read all the posts so maybe someone has already proven me wrong, but I don't think - going by my memory alone - that there is anything written about this. This is intrepretation of the DFing rules by individual tastes or level of guilt. I think it's a good point about it being emotional blackmail. The JW may think they are prompting the "wrongdoer" to change their ways by acting this way, but it's really just hurtful and disrespectful. ..."

Not to mention just plain stupid...

Many things that are destroyed can NEVER be replaced...

I know when I ran away and left the jw's...my parents took my pics down, and

any crafts that I had made were thrown away!! I would love to have the

pics from our pre-jw days!! But, I guess they got rid of those too!!

I hope you dumped her behind so fast that her head spun...

Actually I was kind of stunned into silence at the time. The whole concept of someone being so completely f*cked up was foreign to me. It was also in the first year of our marriage, and I was still determined to make things work. I was also a relatively new JW, so I still had a high tolerence for BS as well as no spine. Bad combination. I eventually grew a brain and a spine, and dumped both her and the cult.

Even after 7 years apart, I've had no thought of destroying the pics of our wedding, vacations, etc. I just don't have it in me to muster up that much hatred for anyone. I've no intention of going back to her or the cult, but I still see no point in trying to erase a part of my life as if it never happened.

That's very big of you, Finally-free...

Me, I'd be a bit more of a "brat"...

I'd have a few of the photos duplicated - and then I'd cut HER out of the pictures, and send them to her...

Telling her that you've cleaned all "cult" influences out of your life, and isn't she proud of you, for doing that???

Maybe this sounds a bit harsh - keeping in mind that the REAL pictures aren't destroyed; you've just created the illusion that they were - and coincidentally, giving HER a taste of her own medicine!!!

But then, what would you expect of a she-devil???
