    Kent,
Sorry to hear you were put in the crosshairs so to speak, but judging from what you posted, you were fortunate. NYTELECOM1 is quite correct; it appears that is was amateurs that attacked you. Why do I say that? The nature of what you posted in your logs, but more importantly the facts that your site is still up and last but not least the fact that you snarfed the originating ip. All that adds up to minor league.

Some years back I managed what were called security tiger teams. The teams consisted of experienced hackers and we would collectively work together and attack our targets in coordinated attacks. Using this approach, our success rate approached almost 100%. Back then my team was doing this legally under contract with the US government, however there are a few pretty good hacker groups still out there, and unlike my team, they don’t play by anyone’s rules.

Ever hear of the Chaos Computer Club, from Hamburg Germany? Good hackers. Be glad it was not them that hit you. They caused massive headaches for one of my clients.

Maybe so, nytelecom1 - but I guess Simon has made some paranoid stuff here. LOL

The logfiles do contain some comands - and I guess he won't take any risc on that. We've tried many times - but as long as the stuff is on the observer - anyone can read it anyway :)

And - a happy day to you too

I know this doesn't need to be pros, and we never expected anyone to try to hack the site. The Windows server couldn't take the load, so we used another one. (Just a normal PC - and it was downloaded 1,7 GB last night) But, the attempt is illigal anyway - and it's interesting that the university claims to be hacked as well :)

I doubt that a amateur hacker could hack the university server. Most likely it's one person at campus.

Just now another guy is trying to hack the server. He's from Mosaica Education - or IP 198.68.179.2

It seems someone is extremely eager to find out where these files are coming from :)

Meanwhile, the field of charter school management was shaken last week with the news that Mosaica Education Inc., a New York City-based operator of 11 schools, will acquire Advantage Schools Inc., a Boston-based company running 15 schools.

    Kent,
I am no expert but I do know this much.

Absolutely no one but a JW would care a flip where those KMs are coming from or any of the other info on your site!

Looks like a JW is trying to put a stop to these KMs getting into your hands by getting proof and turning these people in.

It would be interesting to find out if it is just a tattletale or something more sinister coming from WT headquarters instructions.
