Is it wrong of me to think of the GB, the Writing Department, Bethelites, Pioneers, as moochers, and leeching bloodsuckers?

    Great post,

It burns me that the bethelites, C/O's, D/O's and Governing Body don't have to work for a living, don't have any real financial or material cares in the world and they are the ones telling the flock to don't be overly anxious about material things. Simplify and spend more time in the pointless ministry.

They don't have kids to support, or have to worry about retirement, or have to find a way to pay for medical care. Out of touch bozos. It makes me mad that these clowns are the ones pretending to speak for Jesus. Ass%@#!

Well not to change the subject. But I am very friendly with an EX C .Servant.( John W) & his wife
Listening to some of what they had to bear is awful. When they were invited to stay in
members homes ,some had damp beds, cockroaches ( many) fleas,Some of the meals they
had to Thank Jehovah for was terrible, hairs in them, etc:But had to smile & thank their
hosts & hostesses. Thinking back they wonder how they could have gone on. That was in England

Then they came to the U.S.A & it was the same there (Yes many homes were very kind & clean in all
countries & they traveled to Many))
then they came to Canada .Same issues here also. Thank God Jah Booted em out.
But to listen to their comment WOW!!!! I am glad I didn't join the elite group

Mouthy, I have heard the same thing about some circuits. Marion Dunlap told me about such in the Appalachian mountains when he was a substitute CO.

But remember, there were also rich circuits and those COs had travel trailers and luxury cars to pull them. They lived like retired millionairs on permanent vacation.

There was mucho behind the scenes politics going on as to who got what circuit.

Well John W didn't live like one of the rich ones.
Though he is rich now !!!!

Hey Mouthy, thanks for presenting the other side of it. I don't want to be heavy handed. There was a poster on here who went by Winston Churchill whom I believe was a C.O. if I remember correctly. I enjoyed his posts while lurking, and was part of the reason I registered.

At the same time though, make no mistake about it, I find it offensive that those boys in NY criticize everything natural in life that a common JW might do, such as going to school, dating, marrying, working, making a living, planning for their future, anything that might make a JW briefly forget that there is a so called Governing Body. I resent and hate the establishment in this religion for how they pressure people They disgust me. COs and DOs enforce this mentality. They're just like the Pharisees. Some sincerely wish to help, but I dont think I can say that about the majority. The only thing I want to tell all of them is to get a job like the rest of us. Raise a family like the rest of us. Get your hands out of my pocket, I don't owe the COs, the DOs, and the GB anything. Get a job, wash your own clothes, pay for your own trips abroad, pay for you own dinners, worry about getting your own health insurance........we can on and on. I don't work for someone else to reap the benefits. We're being taking advantage of.

It reminds me of 2 Samuel 12, when God sends Nathan to David and informs him of a wealthy man who took advantage of a common man.

1And the LORD sent (A) Nathan to David. He came to him and said to him, (B) "There were two men in a certain city, the one rich and the other poor. 2 The rich man had very many flocks and herds, 3 but the poor man had nothing but one little ewe lamb, which he had bought. And he brought it up, and it grew up with him and with his children. It used to eat of his morsel and drink from his cup and lie in his arms, [a] and it was like a daughter to him. 4 Now there came a traveler to the rich man, and he was unwilling to take one of his own flock or herd to prepare for the guest who had come to him, but he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him." 5 Then David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man, and he said to Nathan, (C) "As the LORD lives, the man who has done this deserves to die, 6 and he shall restore the lamb (D) fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity."

7 Nathan said to David, "You are the man! Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel,

Most of them are mooching off their future. Once their assignment is over, they may have to start from scratch making a living when they're well past they're prime.

Misery, I have to go along with the opinions about the Governing Body for sure, and probably the heavies in Bethel. As to ordinary Bethelites, I know several who were sent home during this "downsizing" after spending about twenty years or so. They were young when they went in, they had little or not money, and came home with nothing but doubts about how Jehovah could no longer want them. They had no money to start over, and members of the congregation helped them out a few months til they got settled. They have no skills useful outside the org, and are all working for little more than minimum wage. In my opinion, their financial life is in ruins.

    Good thread!

"It's just that when I think of Jesus' life on earth, and the 1st Century Christians, I find it hard to imagine them having the same expectations of their brethren that the heavyweights in this organization expect of their lower ranked brethren."

I am reminded of a recent assembly that gave a demonstration encouraging family heads to quit their jobs if they found they could not get time off for the Friday sessions. In the demonstration the brother did quit his job, had no job to fall back on, attended, and later found, within days, another job.

    Really?

And it's exactly that situation that keeps things from ever changing.

By the time a Bethelite has been there long enough to potentially make a difference, they've been there 20 or 30 years.

If they rock the boat too much, they'd get tossed out on their tushes. The example of Ray Franz a generation ago, and the 2 or 3 thousand "reassigned" Behtelites form 3-4 years ago, serves to reinforce that notion.

Suppose you're a "prominent Bethlite", and in a position to "make a stand" and have someone pay attention.

Then you think "what if I 'lose'? Then I'm out on the street, at age 50-55-60, with no Social Security, no pension, no savings, no job skills, no hope of employment....if I leave Bethel with a 'dishonorable discharge' no one in a local congregation will help me out...maybe I could handle it but what about my poor wife?...."

So no one dares to say or do anything that might cause themselves or their families any personal 'danger'.

And you end up with the mess you see now.

    MISERYLOVESELDERS,

I agree with your posts. I also had NO use for these men who don't work for a living and have no idea what in the HELL they are talking about when they presume to 'counsel' the average working person. They are ignorant in their arrogance.

    HIDING QUESTIONER,

Anybody foolish enough to quit their job in today's recession/depression on the advice of the religion (!) and is now starving, had better go to the religion for help. This is tragic and if I were in the congregation I would run from this person. What a calamity to follow such insane advice! This is like asking somebody to jump from a plane without a parachute. Meanwhile, I would never jump from a plane WITH a parachute. This type of advice was something that made me furious. They want YOU to take this leap of faith. Not THEM.

It is a sobering thought to think how damaging this religion is to the gullible and I am so glad I no longer associate.
