    Xena,

I love the feel of it when my skin feels so soft and silky...don't tell anyone but I enjoy running my hands up and down my legs after I shave them with that scented bath stuff that makes you sssooo soft and then I put the matching scented lotion on....uuummm so nice...
    Exactly!

As for men shaving, I personally like hair on a guy's legs! But then, I've never known a man who shaved his legs so I don't really have grounds to make a comparison. If it feels good, do it!

I don't insist on my personal taste for any women. I'm perfectly aware that we have all been propagandized (yes, all, me too) to think women should not have hair on their legs even though that's how we all are thanks to biology. I feel the effects of the societal propaganda that objectifies women to the point of distraction, and I like a smooth leg too. But my preference, personal only, and nobody ever agrees with me on this, nobody, and that's fine with me, is for the natural look. If you are naturally smooth, great. My next preference is for the unshaved look. My last preference is for the shaved look.

Yes, shaving creates a look that is distinct. If you must shave, please don't go above the knee. It looks really ugly on the thighs when you shave.

One day we may get to the point where humanity accepts itself for who they are as biological individuals. Until then, we will continue to be bombarded with propaganda so relentlessly, we will come to think of it as our personal preference.

Yes, I practice what I preach: I'm going bald, and I am not, and will not, do the slightest thing about it. I am what I am, and I only alter things if they cause a hindrance to daily living, such as contacts or glasses.

Now that I've made my standard rant, go ahead and disagree completely. Everyone always does on this subject.

Well, this may sound weird, but it's true. I always shaved my legs until about a year ago. For some reason after my skin cancer and not being able to go to the beach or in the sun, I stopped for a while.

Being a redhead, the hair on my legs was never that thick or dark. A light strawberry blonde color. When I stopped shaving, it grew a little, but was very unnoticeable, and I always wore stockings to work anyway. Now, I have almost no hair at all on my legs. You have to look with your nose against my legs to see it.

So, I don't bother. I keep them lotioned and soft.
I think once I stopped for good, it did go back to the natural way it was. They always say the more you shave, the more it grows.

*. Now I seldom shave more than one leg. Usually the right.*

Woudln't this cause you to go in circles????

I shave! hate it though, try the cremes but I mean who has the time to sit around with that gick all over your legs, to say nothing of freezing in the process hahhhha!

My questions is why is it ok to have hair on your arms and not on your legs???? I mean you see your arms more don't you?? ohh well deep thought.

Seeker as to your 'don't shave above the knee comment' I think that you should if your gonna where shorts. Nothing is nastier then when someone hasn't shaved up far enough when they sit down and they have these really long hairs sticking out EEEWWWWWW. I live in FL trust me on this one!!!!!

    Hey Seeker ,

    How are you?

I can't disagree with you coz you stated all of this as your preference and who am I to say that's wrong? I wish, oh how I wish! that I wasn't dark haired but if I didn't shave certain parts of my body, believe me, no one would be able to find me in the resulting jungle!

I'm so glad you aren't going to do the comb over!!! ARRGHH! I just don't understand why some men do that as it's so obvious, it actually draws attention to the hair loss instead of camouflaging it. Besides, bald is beautiful!

    Xena,

Well, now that childbirth is behind me, yes I do love being a woman!

An excellent question, and one that gets to the heart of my personal objection. It's arbitrary. Society sets a standard and expects women to march in lockstep behind it. Let me put it this way: What if society set a universal standard that you should shave half the hair on your head. If you didn't do this, you would be looked down upon or thought of as weird. What would happen? Right. You'd have women in this thread talking about how much they enjoy having half a shaved head, how smooth it feels, what they use, etc.

It's all arbitrary. Society said shave the legs, but not the arms, but yes, do the armpits! Absurd.

Now, if this is truly your preference, go right ahead. After all, I tried the beard and moustache thing, found I didn't care for the look as much as smooth shaven, so I shave my face. A perfectly silly thing to do, but it's become what I am accustomed to. I certainly understand why women shave their legs. And my objection is not so much aesthetic, as it is intellectual. I don't understand the arbitrary nature by which society sets standards for women. Yet one more way women are mistreated, though it's a very subtle way.

    Hey Dana,

I'm fine, thanks. Don't worry, I'll never do the combover. I'm not that far gone, actually, to where I would be tempted to do it. But I promise, when that day comes, I won't succumb. I am proud of who I am, and quite comfortable with my genetic gifts (good and bad). It's me, and if anyone doesn't want to accept that, it's their problem not mine. :)
