He was one of the more amiable guys at Brooklyn. He was the opposite of Jaracz.

Right leavingwt; he was amiable if a bit eccentric; he couldn't stan being in the same room with Jaracz. His wife Marina was ( is?) a hottie.

Maybe so, but that article still sounded like it was done by somebody on a bad drug trip - likely LSD (as someone aptly posted above). Besides the fact that it is pure hero-worship and disgusting on that level as well. Besides the fact (number two) that I have never liked the David King character in the bible - more morally compromised than Bill Clinton IMHO.

She was significantly younger than Dan, but, (like most of us), of average appearance, IMHO.

Seriously, I have come to view ideas of who was a nice guy and who was a jerk (of the higher-ups in Bethel and elsewhere) as just personal opinions probably based on random encounters:
For example, Betty Dunlap (Ed Dunlap's surviving widow and a staunch ex-JW) insisted to me on numerous occasions that Ted Jaracyz was really a misunderstood guy and pretty nice when you got to know him. I find that pretty hard to believe after all that has been posted on the subject here - but she knew him when she was in Australia and they seemed to get along pretty well. Not that it did anything for her and Ed when the doctrinal flare-up occurred.
Many witnesses around Oklahoma City (especially people my age) had a hard time understanding how I was such good friends with Marion and Ed Dunlap - most people thought they were pretty standoffish and stern personalities. You had to get to know them, I guess...same could be said for ex circuit overseer Don Stull who I took a real estate class with after he moved back to OKC and left the circuit work. People were terrified of him - but he was always very nice to me.

It seemed Sydlik was having several concerns. At the "table," of the GB, were they vying for prominence instead of seeing each other as equals? I know at one time, Sydlik was what we called "shafted." He had been on the writing staff but was sent for awhile over to a more menial position in the factory. He admits they are all actually "crippled," "messed up" but some were forgetting. Was there concern about some having "sinned" in their past?
We say things like, 'I know what he did in 1983 and I knew him back in the day'. Girl What was with the "Girl" right there? I get suspect about that.
Did Sydlik struggle with the "Grace" factor that other Christian religion stress, versus the "undeserved kindness" that JWs teach?
