Do you worry about money?

The WTS really tried to make a lot of young people feel guilty about the perils of higher education. Most of my friends in the congregation ignored it. I really could not see how pioneering full time and totally relying on on faith to get me a job. Not that I doubted the "Most High", it was a matter of self reliance. I went to college and eventually got "jobs". I never saw myself marrying a "brother" because I have seen first hand how most of them treat their wives, so that was a big no!. Money has become an important issue because of the economy and jobs have been outsourced to foreign countries. I have various skills and experience in more than one field, so I have been fortunate. If I did not go to school, I would not have gotten the good jobs that I have had may have been drawn in deeper in the Borg.

Yes. I have a part time job that ends in January and my Partial unemployment benifits end in January. Nobody is hiring then and the republicans stopped an extension of UI benefits from going through. I can't afford to buy clothes I need and soon will not be able to pay my rent, so yes I worry about money! Every day!

Not as much as I did when I was a barely skilled JW working retail part-time.

I am 39 and worry about my daughters future and my retirement...but after leaving the borg I have an MBA degree and am earning fairly well.

I am planning to invest in some property...that shld take care in the long run. I also dream to retire by 50 so i dabble in the stock market which is booming in my country.

i try to be concerned about money, not worried.

its only a problem of course when it runs out!

    I never saved. Until i was 47.

before that circumstances always seemed to conspire against me.

Now i am very lucky to be self employed and earning good money for 3 days a week work. Finaly we are saving and bought a home in the country as it gave us a cheap mortgage and a new lifestyle. I am always conscious that my line of work could end as it services a luxury not a need in peoples lifes, so i have other ideas to develop over the next couple of years to fill the void should that happen. Together we keep ourselves on target with saving and spending so as to not ruin the 'plan'.

It took getting older and married to a younger woman for me to realize that i needed to get off my butt and find some security for older age. I do not want my wife to have to suppoet me when i 'retire'. The plan is to have the home paid off by then and thus need less money to live on. I want her to have an asset when eventually i pop me clogs.

If i was still alone i would probably have kept renting and gone bush in retirement...maybe if there is bugger all pension in 16 years time we can sell the house and land and go bush anyway!

Do I worry - no. Money is money and can be made if you put in a bit of effort. I regularly contribute to 3 pension funds: 1 with the company I work for - I put in about R 800 a month and they match that - so it's money for nothing. I then contribute to 2 RAs' (Retirement Annuities) I don't have property or land. Everything can move up and down depending on the market: Properties, stocks, Pension funds - all of it.

I'm hoping to become as self sufficient as possible in the future and keep living expenses to a minimal.
