Yknot- how do you tolerate it?
I've had 4 visits this month! The old school elders ring the doorbell...so I disabled it. But the elder who came by was just on regular service, and he knocked really, really softly.
I hated bothering people at their home, so I would always knock softly and hope people wouldn't come to the door! My husband would ring doorbells and I would get mad at him and tell him it was too early to disturb people, lol.
So what happened, Titch?
Did you go to the door, offer to buy them a copy of CoC, what?
To Ding: Well, none of the above. As I mentioned in my post, I just went back to drinking my coffee, eating breakfast, after looking out the kitchen window and realizing who was standing on my porch, knocking very lightly. One thing to keep in mind, for ANYONE who knocks on your door, or rings your doorbell (if it's working) is that you are under NO obligation or requirement legally, morally, ethically, or otherwise, to respond to ANYONE who is out there. In other words, I was under no obligation to open the door, and engage in conversation with them. So, I hope that explains to everyone what I did. Just went back to what I was doing....And, thanks to everyone who has replied. Your comments have been intersting. Anyway, right now, because of the economic meltdown and the effects that it has had upon me, I don't have the money to buy them a copy of CoC. Wish I did...but, alas, I don't! Maybe some day, if I win the Lottery or the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes, I'll have enough money to buy them individual copies of that book, but not right now!
Titch.
The JWs I have known (and myself) do not like to ring the bell before 10AM/11AM/12PM (depends on the publisher) in case the householder is sleeping.
The last few times the JW's came to our house, they either knocked lightly enough that it didn't even alert the dog or didn't know at all. I only knew they had been there when a old magazine or memorial invite fell out of the door.
It's really sad to think the feel they HAVE to do this.

The sister commented that they would see NO-JWs signs on the doors , if they sold such a sign in the stores.

You will do a greatb job by directing them to this site http://www.focusonthebible2011.com or just mention a religous group on google :
alt.bible and let them read my posts ( by OBVES ) about 2011 .
Inter-Heaven memo, lol
I used to do that when I was a kid. If I was paired up with my cousin I would make a deal with him. We are going to pretend to be knocking... bad part was when they noticed we were there, lol.
