  Some older former Bethelites may remember these folks from the cover of a 1984 Watchtower:

  

  This was published during a time while the Watchtower Society was waging war against the "apostasy" that had started in 1980. One of the issues at stake was the year 1914. These older Bethelites were photographed to give tangible proof that the "generation of 1914" would not pass away. Now, nearly 27 years later, they likely have all passed away (along with that generation).

  Some names I could not remember. I'd be grateful if some former Bethelites who post here could help me fill in the blanks.

  Just to add:

  I just came across a different recording of the "Remain in the Secret Place of the Most High" District Assembly talk that outlines the "overlapping" generations that make up the "generation of 1914." It was given by Governing Body David Spane. The recording is up at:

  He starts with the explanation of the new teaching at about 27:00 minutes and continues in that vein through about 38:00 minutes. But, what's also interesting is how he talks about JW youth not needing higher education and how he was told as he grew up he'd never graduate from high school, or drive a car, or get married due to Armageddon being so near. And, then, he tells JWs today to do the same!

  This is the Biblical backing you present at a District Convention in support of the NEW generation teaching??? How do you train yourself to believe your own BS? I guess you have no choice... there's no way you can survive the "real world"...

  And one thing we know for sure is that God doesn't make a promise and then take it back

  This Organization has Satan written all over it. He fooled eve, and he fooled the poor souls

  on the front of that mag

  Same old crap from the WT. I was a teenager back then, when that issue came out. Now I'm in my early 40's and still the end is near.....

  Why doesn't the WTBTS just say, "We were wrong"? Is that the end of the cult?

  Unfortunately I didn't got any education....I left school back in the early 80's to become a pioneer, because the end was soooooooo close...Then I was appointed MS, had a lot of things to do in the WT word and never had time to do anything else, like education. Unfortunately I even turned down good working deals, and when I started to play music as a guitarist, the elders came and asked me not to do that, since I'm gaining glory for my self!!!

  When I left WT, I was in my mid 30's with children, working 2-3 jobs just to get the basic money since I didn't had any skills.
