Dodn't we see the point here?
To confide in an elder or the society is to tell all the elders.
Imagine how embarissing this is for someone who has a personal problem they would rather other people did not know.
What possible reason could their be for all elders to know what goes on in your head ?How does this help you?
All that happens is that all the elders know what you do or what weakness you have.
If people were really concerned about your feelings why would they do this?

Friend 1 was not a practising homosexual so why was it anyone elses business?

    Galatians 6:1-3 ***
6 Brothers, even though a man takes some false step before he is aware of it, YOU who have spiritual qualifications try to readjust such a man in a spirit of mildness, as you each keep an eye on yourself, for fear you also may be tempted. 2 Go on carrying the burdens of one another, and thus fulfill the law of the Christ.

Sounds like typical elders. They probably all "spanked their monkeys" at one time or the other but its different when they hear someone else is doing it. What do you expect when most of them don't have a high school education and work at menial jobs.

Since my wife and I have stopped attending meetings we have been approached by 2 different people complaining of similar elder follies.
I guess people feel safe venting with us since we're out now.
One complaint involved an elder who this sister caught lying twice during her judicial hearings. The other complaints were more general about the overall lack of empathy and feelings of the elders when it comes to sensitive issues.

Why do all elders in a certain congregation need to know that someone has homosexual desires?
    Explain how this helps someone?
If in a cong there are only 2 elders and in another 12 how many elders should know in each hall?
Are they all needed to help this person?

Friend number one knows he is gay ,he likes men big boys

    Sleepy,

If "he likes men and big boys", what age are these "big boys"? Are they sixteen, seventeen? If so, then the elder may have acted to protect the young men in the congregation.

Certainly there are lots of instances when elders act like dolts and even coniving scheming b*****ds to achieve their own acts of petty politics, as was the case in my last "Privilige of service" before I resigned, or was I removed? moot point.

However,.. the actions that you describe seem to have been handled by the book.

An admission of homosexual leanings is very serious, and the idea is that the elders have to act as a team - no secrets from each other. As for self abuse, I cannot think why they wrote up to Soc. there is plenty of published material I expect the Soc just referred to previous articles, but again they will view it a necesary to "Know the appearence of the flock"

What are they going to do rugby takle him?
Lets say someone else told an elder in confidence that he fancied someone elses wife.
Would he know have to tell all the other elders?
This person went and told the elder in confidence, the elder promised not to tell anyone else , he did.

"However,.. the actions that you describe seem to have been handled by the book."
That explains why their actions were so wrong .
The book is the JW rule book.
Why should anyone have there secrets shared around an elect group of men?

i agree with mostly everything stated here, but i maintain that the elders are acting in accordance with their training from the WTS. so if anyone is to blame, its corporate headquarters in Brooklyn. now if an elder is a real d**k they may go against Watchtower laws. If I sinned on any level I would never ever tell the elders. I realized this after I spilled my guts after getting caught smoking pot at age 15. Here I am 10 years later and certain people in my old congregation think I'm bad news.

i'm sick and tired of hearing things from uptight-short-sighted-narrow minded hypocritics. all i want is the truth just gimme some truth - John Lennon
