Did anyone hear the part from the recording of the last 6 Screens Conference Call where Johnny talked about a brother being "effeminate?" Johnny mentioned that he refers to this brother as "sister."

Maybe he's a closet queer that just cant come out, especially in Bethel.

A mere comment doesn't make a person a rabid, foaming at the mouth homophobic.

Laverite, this is the second time in as many days you've taken offence at a simple comment. You're not being a bit too sensitive, are you?

I haven't bothered listening to it. Is it as fun as the first call? I still can't get over how Johnny calls, what, ten hours after the call started?? Those who stayed on that long are hard core.

Did you read LivingtheDream's thread "If it Walks Like a Duck"? Some points of contact with what you describe.

Everyone has a right to be any type of "phobic" that they want.

    So what.

Leo - I think he said he called in late due to being followed or monitored, or something. This call was actually interesting. It's over an hour (an hour and a half-ish if memory serves). I listened to about 45 minutes of it, I think.

    JD -

Just sharing some interesting info that came out of the Johnny call. I agree with your statement that everyone has the right to be phobic. It's not about having a right or lacking a right. I mention this because it says something about him as a person -- about his character and something about his views. This may be important for some who may consider helping him.

I'd happily help someone who was deserving. As a gay person, personally, I think homophobes are less deserving of my help. That's *my* right. I know some others agree. There are even some who will like him more for what he said. That sucks, but I don't doubt it's true.

True that is your right to think that, And i'm sure there are Homophobics who feel the same as you do , but what would throwing up

brick walls accomplish? as a black woman living in the USA, I have been tearing down walls everyday

of my life, and I'm not the only one, there are others of different races and sexes, who tear down walls

it is the only way that I know of to bring about understanding amongst those who are

    different in many ways.

As a JW I was a HUGE Homophobic..........

But a few years before I left I had the Pleasure of actually tearing down that wall and have always been embarrassed for thinking or feeling the way I did.

Today..... I've been blessed for that Wall being torn down.....

This boy Jonny's supposedly an active witness, a bethelite right? Then even if he feels trapped he's hardly likely to be a supporter of PFLAG, it's a journey out of the cult and his is embryonic if at all true. I'd lay off the labelling.
