I always wondered what was the point of having cake if you can't eat it!

    Cake is yummy.

In my post, I said that I love God, and my loyality is to him, I'm talking about myself. Not to a Man-made organization that seperates families, gets peoples emotions worked up, etc.

Having morals is pretty common sense stuff...Living in a constant state of fear and guilt, is counterproductive..

"We taught you right from wrong, you should be thankful!"

Yes by emulating the social morals of an ancient civilization that existed 2000 years ago namely the ancient Israelites.

Where else can find better subjugating morals then that civilization ?

They teach right from wrong, but their definition of "right" and "wrong" are off. Sort of like a compass pointing toward a magnet that throws it off. Get too close, and you are going right for that magnet instead of true north. For instance, they strongly condemn celebrating Christmas. Yet, they condone pedophiles and silence the victims. The penalty for molesting a child by coercion and then silencing that child is about the same as for celebrating Christmas (if they get caught); yet they don't enforce the rule against molesting children. The ban on Christmas is enforced. In fact, the ban on Christmas is more strictly enforced than their "ban(??)" on killing babies (and eating them, in one famous case).

What they obscure is just how easy it is to decide what is right and wrong yourself. Most small children instinctively know it, and would practice it if given half a chance. Not initiating force, threats of force, or fraud is enough. Coercing children into being molested and then silencing them is initiation of force and threats thereof. Killing and eating a baby is initiation of force. Celebrating Christmas is not.

they have created such a system of rules and restrictions so that JWs feel guilt over so many things. It is worse than the Jews under the pharasees. Changes in stand e.g. buying a lottery ticket etc are not communicated so many witnesses err on the side of caution.

The result is that witnesses are not more moral than others although they are more judgemental. They police one another whilst they try to hide their own sins under the carpet. They also teach unbending scorn for all things and people who do not share their world view.

They did not teach me right from wrong, I could have received a better idea of standards through parental guidance and a good education. I was taught many wrong things were right, that the reputation of the congregation was more important than justice, that elders children can live by different standards to the rest, that as long as no one knows about your sin it is ok, that it is ok to hate someone who no longer shares your religious beliefs and that love means bullying others to conform.

Congregations are hot beds of immorality and double standards.

This Title reminds me of the talks given at the 1981 District Conventions right after Ray and Ed were booted. The Mother Ship taught us everything we knew, how could we leave.

    Outlaw- great picture as always

    Ding- thanks for the reminder

Joilette- tried Red Velvet for the first time...OhMyGawdisthatgood!

:"We taught you right from wrong, you should be thankful!"

This is, of course, a huge lie. And it is not a statement, but an an excuse for all the other bullshit and harm caused by the WT religion.

Since the religion itself is a big scam, a racket, a destroyer of families and lives, a cause of mental illness, sickness, religious slavery, financial loss and stress, but most of all a LIE, they did NOT teach right from wrong. They cannot claim that one should be grateful because a religion which is wrong itself taught them "right from wrong."

The fact that it is an excuse for all its religious misdeeds and that claim is a distraction from the WT sins should also be obvious. Let's say some one captured you and cut off both your arms, but you managed to survive and somehow still function. Then they claim,

"We helped you learn how to overcome a big handicap, you should be thankful."

    Would you then be thankful?
