Band on the Run
Ive been specializing in Establishment Clause jurisprudence b/c of my Witness background and its complexity. The Supreme Court has severely failed to set judicial standards so lower court judges know which rules to apply in a specific case. Rather than principled law, it has become a very political field. Most of the justices are now Roman Catholic and influenced to uphold religion in government. School funding is hot topic. Vouchers do not apply to sensitive elementary and secondary students but are honky dory for me to subsizie Notre Dame students teach the Catholic religion. The outcome can be predicted by one factor: the political party of the judge. This not what you learn in jurisprudence in law school.
Barry Lynn is the dominant player in the field. The ACLU is a repeat player as is the Thomas More Society. A Man for All Seasons romaniticized More. He was directly responsible for murdering many Protestants by fire at the stake. More was the inquistion in England. I recently learned this information.
The current thinking is that govt. fuinding of religion is all right as long as individual choice can negate the govt. intrusion and entanglement. The Supreme Court's decisions are not principled so one never knows how a court will rule, unless the case is at an extreme.
No one tells a religion not to spend money in this country. Taxpayers are endorsing more and more religion against their express view. The Warren Court is long dead. I expect we will have prayer in elementary school soon. Hopefully, Obama's nominations should offset this trend. It is the judicial system poised exactly where it claims to not be. D or R should not determine constitutionality.

I am a Christian and bible believer. However, I think that the laws on non-taxable religious organizations has gone on for too long. The idea of an Ark theme park is cool...but to do it and get religious tax breaks and yet still reap all the monitary benefits...I'm not agreeable to that. I have respect for Ken Ham, but this is an abuse of the system. Plus, this IS a ministry. To say otherwise is totally false. I'm sure there are FAR greater connections between Ark encounters and AIG than Ken Ham let on...

Having said that, Rev Barry Lynn is a total jerk in this interview. While Ken seems very laid back and non insulting the cocky smirk on Lynns face is insulting. The way he talks is meant to tear down credibility, instead of have a rational debate about the issue.

"The first time the Ark was launched Noah did it without any government subsidy" - Barry Lynn
Ken Ham lies to children about the real world, now he wants your tax dollars to help him do it

Oh Please...
Everyone lies to kids. Everyone pretends to know what the crap they are talking about, and yet 99% have no idea of the bull that is spilling out of their mouth. Scientists lie all the time. So do governement officials. So do religions. But just having a different view on things doesn't make one a liar. Ken Ham is going through his journey just like we all are.

No there is no sign that Ken Ham is on any journey, his mantra is that his simplisitc literal reading of Genesis trumps every thing that science has ever discovered. He is a menace to children

He is not a danger to kids.
As everyone knows, parents are the biggest danger to kids.

How is it judgemental to say that a man whose mission in life is to promote a literal interpretation of the Genesis creation myth is not a menace to children? A 2005 poll by Pew Research Centre found that 42% of Americans hold strict creationist views and over 32% thought that creationism should replace evolution in biology classrooms. That is appalling.
This is from Ken Ham's website, do you think this is the path to educational excellence? (edit - you edited your post so mine may now seem out of context)

Freedom of speech dude, freedom of speech. Plus, how many kids even know Ken Ham? Also, he's not saying anything that thousands of other fundamentalists say. At least he has the guts to stand up for himself. The others just back off and stay quiet. There are so many other dangerous thoughts in America, that to say that Ken is a present danger is just silly.
