This is not the right category, I'm sure, to post this. But... can some of you give me your favorite recipes for chili? I'm making it for the game tomorrow :)
Thanks

Whatever recipe you use, stir in a tablespoon of cocoa powder. It makes it dark and thick and yummy!
Have fun, we'll be watching, too, at friends' house!

I'm hungry right now too. I want some nachos right now. After field service today, I stopped at Burger King and got two double cheeseburgers and a large fry. Ohhh, it was devine. I may go in Burger King at the most three time a year, same with McDonalds. Today, I was starving as I didn't eat breakfast before leaving.
Some chili would be good right now, or some nachos, hmmmm, hell even some toast with butter would be good right now. Where do you two live at, because I need tended to.
Palm, I have a recipe that adds chocolate to chili... I thought that was strange, but perhaps not. I want something spicy and flavorful.
Misery, call me. I can definitely make you toast and butter ;)

Los Venganza
2 pounds country style pork ribs
1 pound beef stew meat
2 pounds ground sirloin
1 large white onion (not yellow or red)
1 Tbs paprika
4 Tbs cumin
1 Tbs finely ground black pepper
1 Tsp ground white pepper
6 fresh diced garlic clove
6-8 Tbs chili powder
1 Tbs ground cayenne
1 cup brown sugar
2 Tbs masa or corn flour
1 can of diced tomatoes
salt to taste but I use Kosher salt and it's usually about 1 Tbs.
12 oz. beer (preferably Dos Equis Ambar or Shiner Bock...something with flavor) mainly because that's what I like to drink while making chili
12 oz. water
1-2 Tbs olive oil
1 small can of adobo sauce with chipotle peppers
Brown the meat and chop it up fine. Shred the pork if possible. Drink a beer.
Dice the onion and lightly brown the garlic in a bit of olive oil (be careful and watch the color on the garlic, don't smoke it or it tastes funky) Drink a beer.
Add the beer, water, tomato, onion, garlic, adobo w/ chipotles (chop the chipotles with a fork, they shred easy) and brown sugar
I add the dry elements together, except the salt (I usually mix them before hand) and slowly stir them in. Drink a beer
I cook the chili in a large Crock-Pot and like to let it warm up a bit and then salt to taste.
After I get the taste the way I want it I'll get ready to thicken it. Normally I stir in the masa (do it just a bit at a time or you'll end up with chili with a bunch of delicious little biscuits in it and the chili will be too thin. Next time I make this I think I'll make a roux and thicken it that way. Drink a beer.
Drink more beer and take a nap and then wake up and eat chili and drink beer. Pretty much a perfect day.
Misery, call me. I can definitely make you toast and butter ;)

Whoa!! Runs to refrigerator for some ice water......... I thought about you the other day too as Army of Darkness was on, and your picture reminded me of the lead girl.
Try this.....it serves 8 people
1 (14.5 ounces) can fire roasted tomatoes
1 small can of tomato paste
1 carrot chopped up
1 onion, chopped up
2 stalks celery, chopped up
1/4 cup white wine
1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
1.4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
1/3 cup bottled steak sauce or Bullseye (Old West Hickory)
5 slices cooked bacon
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 (1.25 ounce) package chili seasoning mix
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Combine tomatoes, tomato paste, carrot, onion, celery, wine, pepper flakes, brown sugar, bell peppers and steak sauce in a large pot over medium-low heat. While that's simmering, in a large skillet over medium heat cook the bacon until crisp then remove the bacon. Cook beef in bacon drippings until brown; drain. Stir chili seasoning into ground beef.
Stir seasoned beef, cumin and bacon into tomato mixture. Continue to simmer until vegetables are tender and flavors are well blended.
Stir in beans, cilantro and parsley and then inhale!!
Oh, you guys are making me sooo hungry. Those both sound awesome... I just wouldn't make it past step two if I followed Sooner's directions :)... even though that chili sounds more like a work of art!
Misery, Army of Darkness has been a staple in this house. My son had a chainsaw arm for a while after seeing it, lol - and from playing the video game.

Plus, I don't know where the Superbowl pick thread went... so I officially pick the Packers to win. 27-23.
