Well, my chili is on... tastes and smells SPICY!!!

Limited by budget and ingredients, I took bits and pieces out of everyone's recipes and made one up. (except for mamalove's - that one has to be done on its own)

EE - my favorite is con carne also, but the hubbie likes it mixed up.

I'll let everyone know how it turns out :)

    Thanks to all,

uh, it looks like i am late :-(.

For what its worth, i have gotten many compliments on this basic recipe:

    • ground beef
    • onions
    • garlic
    • salt/peper
    • chili (i usually use whole chili, but ground chili is okay)
    • tomato paste (make sure to fry it at very high temperature in a little oil to make it sweet)
    • one half ale or stout
    • dark chocolate
    • cumin
    • red kidney beans of good quality. none of that canned crap! just buy them dried and soak them up, its cheaper and better.
    • make sure the meat does not boil. basically fry the heck out of it before adding other ingredients.
    • let it simmer for several hours (this is allmost the most important part).

Sounds great, Bohm. We love chili, so I'm saving and I'll be getting around to all of these recipes... don't you worry :)
