Good luck. When me and my wife were still active, we went to visit Brighton convention and one of the attendant "brothers" asked us what congregation we go to before he let us in - and we were dressed up looking like your typical j-dub couple!

I suspect these jackasses are a lot more paranoid now.

Why not write the WitchTower for a list of books you are looking for? Tell them you are doing a thesis paper, or something benign like that. Send a small donation explaining that you hope it covers the costs...

I suspect they would grill me... and it would have to be an out of the way place.

had thought of using the kids to get stuff...

i think i would rather ebay somehow.

    I was just wondering.

    thanks all

Why would you OZ, you know already what kind of BS is written in those pieces of literature ?

If you looked like a long haired worldly they may first query are being studied with ?

It all depends who behind the literature counter.

"Big ticket" items, like the Insight books and WT-CD, are not kept "in-stock". You have to special order them.

    (1) It's not very likely the dude behind the counter would take your order if you are not a member of the congregation, and (2) even if he did you'd have to wait a month for the stuff to be shipped.

For things like that e-bay or similar is your best bet.

If you want stuff that is kept "in stock", like Bibles, song books, books used in field serve-us, etc., you could probably get some stuff by posing as a "Bible study" or "unbelieving mate" or "visitor whose mom is 'in the truth' ", etc.

If you want the insight volumes, and can't find them in Australia, I could send you mine. The only other book I have is the red Revelations book.

If you are perceived as a non jw and no one knows you there, you can get the lastest magazines for the public and the current book they study with non jws. Anything else would be suspicious. Since you can get those online at www.jw.org why bother.

I've picked up lots of books at used book stores. Even a couple at Salvation Army stores.

Some of the books I have are... "You can live forever", cc.1982......"Revelation", cc.1988....."Things in which it is impossible for God to lie", cc.1965....."Life" by Rutherford, cc.1929...."Deliverance" by Rutherford, cc.1926....."Salvation" by Rutherford, cc.1929....with pic and info on Beth-Sarim, and numerous other books.

Go on line and search for used book stores, and have fun. I did.

When you order online or via mail, do they still send local pioneers/elders to your home to deliver them or do they actually ship through the mail?
