    I know I shoulda posted this in 'Scandals and Cover ups' but I thought I would get a better response here.

    I dont know how true this is but I heard that there is a group of very well off former bethelites who donates a lot of money

    to the watchtower, and in turn, are deemed 'Honorary Bethelites' for life. Privately of course.

    Is this true? Rumor?

    I've never heard of this. But the annual meeting is for "board" members who vote on organizational matters. Of course others are invited to the talks after the voting. But I've never heard them called honorary bethelites, and I don't think they get appointed to the board due to donations.

    Thank BD. My parents had a superbowl party this weekend (annoying people from my parents congregation over at their house), and me and mom was waiting for the pizza at a local place here in Milwaukee. We were talking about the hall, and I mentioned honorary bethelites, and she was like what? lol. She said, I thought bethelites werent suppose to have titles. I was like, I guess its just a humor but theres a lot of things you and dad dont know...lol.

    I'm calling "Honorary Bethelites" a rumor. However, there are the monied that got special treatment. For example, Liebensperger and Grozescu are a couple of family names that come to mind from Patterson. "Bethelite" is a very public, not private title. So instead, these will get to be pioneers that count time for anything they do for Bethel. Their perks include attending special events and getting guest rooms as they please.

    Hey Billy or BD can you explain the whole 'Green Handshake' thing to me, isnt this when the C.O's and D.O's get special gifts from the rank and file Witnesses like cars, etc?

    Being a woman I'm starting to find out so much about the Org, especially from a finanical standpoint.

    Green handshakes are VERY common especially with DO's and CO's. From my experience the ones that do this are usually the ones that get parts at the assemblies and conventions. If you get in good with a CO, your set. You'll get any priviledge that you want. The problem is that you have to do it every 3 and a half years.

    Three and a half years? What do you mean, giving the C.O's gifts?

    And one part does the D.O's play in it?

    I had no IDEA about this stuff. My parents dont even know. I thought the C.O's were pretty humble.

    CO's only stay in their circuit for 3 and a half years before being reassigned. So you'd have to start the brown nosing all over again with the new CO that comes to town.

    Oh...okay. Yeah I always thought the C.O's were pretty humble, alwas lived simply, etc.

    Our new C.O. seems really indoctrined and brainwashed. He's single, in his mid 40's. I dont think he's ever been married, doesnt have any children.

    He let us know from the platform that he's not intrested in being married, and is happy with being single. I wonder if that was his way of trying to

    say something without 'coming out' and saying it.

    He listened to Rutherford too much!

    "Would it be scripturally proper for them to marry and begin to rear children? No, is the answer, which is supported by the scriptures .. I will be far better to be unhampered and without burdens, that they may do the Lord's will now, as the Lord commands, and also be without hindrance during Armageddon.. Those .. who now contemplate marriage, it would seem, would do better if they wait a few years, until the fiery storm of Armageddon is gone." {Face the Facts pages 46-50}
