This old brother and his wife are concluding a study with a single mother and her 10 year old daughter. He says, "Let's thank Jehovah". The girl asks meekly, "can I thank Jehovah"? He says "no, because I'm a brother I have to say the prayers here." The little girl is reduced to tears. The mother is a bit mortified. The sister knows better and encourages her husband to talk to the COBE. He does and gets dressed down for being so unreasoning. Now when they call to set up the next study the mother doesn't answer. I wonder why? Have you run into such dogmatic idiots while you were among God's happy and loving people?

Well that is the JW teaching... isn't it? Only men may say prayer. Or did the little girl have a napkin she could stick on her head?

He sounds crazy. Hopefully this will help the woman see the light and not continue the study.

Hopefully, that blows the whole study. I don't see any reason why any human being that is physically and mentally able to discern prayer can't pray for the study. And without putting a stupid hat or scarf on their head, at that.

A sister cannot pray in front of a baptized brother even with a "napkin" on her head per the WTS; unless he is unable to speak, is on restrictions, etc. Even if it were a ten-year-old unbaptized boy, he could not pray.

To add, even a non-baptized man could not pray if a baptized brother were present per the WTS.

Again. Tacking on 5,000 terms & conditions to the Bible. Then got the nerve to constantly rag on the Pharisees in their publications. Ballsy, I'll give them that.

A wet elder was studying with a bloke who had genuine questions he wanted answers to. He wasn't trying to be clever or introduce 'apostate' ideas, he was simply searching for truth.

The wet elder tells him that he won't research his questions but they must continue to study the dublication as per the GB's instructions and his questions will be answered later.

I know what you're all thinking here.........

Upshot = Bloke stops studying! Own goal!

Let's be thankful this "brother" was lacking in tact (and a few brain cells). He may have just saved the lady and her daughter a lifetime of grief.

Not being nasty here but to be honest. If that little girl started to attend meetings you never know who's lurking at the Hall!

Sadly as Silentlambs bears testiomony to!!

I have seen this kind of stuff happen all the time.I know of one pioneer couple who studied with another couple to the point the couple was going to all the meetings etc and then something stupid came up the pioneer couple took the hard ball stand on it and the couple who were studying woke up and ran. It was over something really stupid like them giving the JW couple some kind of gift that had something on it that the JW couple felt was from Satan and they would not accept it.

The studying couple was so hurt and offended than realized that this is a cult and ran.

I know elders who would have handled the study the same way this brother did. Does not surprise me in the least.

    LITS
